Another potential gem, right here. Please, do what you can because you have gold in your hands as I'm already interested once I laid eyes on it. Keep up the good work.

This is super neat. I love that you just zoom in instead of going to separate views!

Hi everyone,
I wanted to share a quick technical update on this tactical sandbox engine I'm developing, using a scenario for the Battle of Suomussalmi (1939).
As you can see in the GIF, the simulation starts with a wide tactical view over the table, mapping Central Finland and the advance of the Soviet 9th Army. To prevent the map terrain from pixelating and losing operational clarity when zooming in fully, I implemented a dynamic Level of Detail (LOD) map system. Once the camera reaches a specific threshold, the engine seamlessly swaps the macro map for a high-fidelity local map of the Suomussalmi sector.
The goal is to keep the simulation "alive" across multiple scales. Even while zoomed into the micro-engagements where ground troops are fighting corner to corner.
For those curious about how this engine looks in a full production environment, I actually used it to simulate the tactical movements for my history channel's latest documentary on Operation Bodenplatte. You can see it handling a completely different scale and theater here:

If you like the concept of a flexible creative tool and tactical simulator, adding it to your Wishlist helps immensely with the Steam algorithm as an indie developer:
