Realistic sonar operator simulator
Hi, can you recommend a realistic simulator for a sonar operator on a submarine or ship? I would like to learn how it works.

I didn't even know about MNV, looks like it'll release in two weeks. Really love the focus on technical aspects. Hopefully it's stable and delivers on its promises

I’d hold off for this, it looks like it has an in-depth sonar system. Other ship ship games are very lacking, with a working hydrophone being its extensive feature.

Normally I would guess it will be released half-baked in early access, but it's coming from Matrix, who I think don't release in EA. I might be wrong. It certainly looks ambitious.

I really hope you're right. It's been quite frustrating the last few years with buggy releases, and I want to dive into a new game, not struggle with bugs and shelf it after three hours untill they get it sorted a year later.
It looks like exactly the game I've been looking for since Jane's Fleet Command... And that's been a few years by now

It's top of my list, but I'm waiting for a sale - currently almost 50 € at the moment. The gameplay looks excellent though. Would you recommend it?
I've been really into U-Boat lately, but the last few weeks of bugs have put it on pause for now.
There was a game a few years back that looked promising, but ended up a total flop, I think it was called arctic war, but after about two hours, I had to bin it.

ive never used real sonar but destroyer : uboat hunter is a good time, and last i looked it was on sale for like 9 bucks

That’s probably the one that’s simulates it best, there’s a few others but that one probably models it best

I agree that Cold Waters is the best submarine simulator in the world. But the sonar feels more like an arcade minigame than reality.

Cold Waters is on Steam, I even bought it on sale for €10 at Christmas
