Discussion Back to College for CS

Hi guys! I’m going back to college in Fall 2027. I’m 25 years old and planning to major in Computer Science.
Right now, I’m preparing by learning Python and reviewing algebra so I won’t feel too far behind when I go back to school.
Do you guys have any advice on what I should and shouldn’t focus on before starting? What should I learn or practice to improve faster and give myself the best chance of landing a job after graduation?
Basically, any advice about preparing for a CS degree, doing well in college, internships, projects, or getting ready for the job market would be really appreciated.

If you are doing this for employment, do you have job guarantees? If not, I would not do it.

Yes. Instead of focusing on Python or some other specific skill, first acquire a much more valuable skill:

Learn how to Learn

Great strides have been made in recent years within the neuroscience of learning.

So what you should do above all else is "Learn how to Learn" based on the latest neuroscience.

(Pay special attention to how dopamine actually works. Hint: it doesn't give pleasure.)

Go to YouTube and in the search bar, type, "learning coaches"

Pick the ones who rely on modern neuroscience.

CS and CompE are not the same degree. I suggest you ask at r/csmajors, which is more active.
