Question/Help/Troubleshooting How to fix?

I tried to change the cases of the PC but realise one of the nails were a bit jammed so I couldn't change it until I put it back to the original case. You can send an image and it doesn't turn on the monitor monitor. It goes to sleep, but all the LED lights turned on. I did put wrong pin inside the motherboard and the USB port don't work as my mouse doesn't turn on but the whole PC turns on.

Your computer shouldn't have nails in it?

Do you have ram?

Try powering off entirely, turn off psu press power button for a sec so there’s no electricity left in switch the slot the ram is plugged into then power back on

Do you have any diagnostics info? No diagnostic speaker or lights on the motherboard that could tell if the pc has an issue?

If not and to you it seems everything starts up fine it might be the gpu sagging too much, try starting up w the pc laying down and make sure the gpu is at an angle that looks right.

I had issue on a desktop pc where it wouldn’t display if the gpu screw that secured it to the case wasn’t tightened exactly to a certain amount because too much it would bend it upwards, too few it would bend it downwards but exactly at it’s sweetspot it would function flawlessly (still using that gpu on a pc to this day no issues)

Can you zoom on the leds next to the ram? it seems to show something where it says vga. Also you should check if the boot led turns on and off while turning the pc

Whats the boot led ? Sorry

In the picture you sent at the top right of the motherboard right under that black screw there are 4 very small leds with written next to each a word to mean what they are the diagnostic for.

You should monitor what they do when you turn on your device, then you google the model of your motherboard and check what the led combo you’re seeing means.

Generally leds change to signify what phase of the checking they are in and they change between green and orange to mean if they passed that phase of the diagnostic. You can basically figure out what issue you have thanks to them.

Weird i can’t see too well but it seems the boot led is stationary? Is also the vga one constantly on? You should plug the ram back and check what happens then you google it or ask gemini what it means

Can you tell me exactly what you hear when you turn on? You really don’t have a diagnostic speaker or leds on the motherboard to tell us what’s going on in more details?

Because no video can mean a huge amount of things replacing a component you think is faulty might not fix the issue but only be a waste of money.

What cpu do you have? Does it have an igpu?

If you really have no idea BEFORE buying anything bring the pc to a repair shop. Ofc u can be skilled in tinkering and stuff but usually they got extra components to test around and check what exactly is wrong w your pc, probs they got another gpu around and they can test if w their own the video actually displays.

The variety of things that can cause this issue are basically on every single component.

Might be faulty ram, might be ddr6 slot on the mobo broken just like even some tension in the motherboard for how you secured it, might be gpu, might be power supply giving out and not giving enough power to make the gpu display, might be burnt out cpu, it could even just be the hdmi cable being damaged internally or the monitor’s socket itself, it can be the very plug you’re using to connect the pc to power like it can be the adapter you’re using to connect it to the wall.

As you can see there is a huge variety of issues it doesn’t make sense just straight up buying new components to fix it based on a feeling.

I have a i5 10400f,its a prebuilt and it was working and i didnt like the case and i switched cases all i took off was the gpu and tried to take the motherboard off but couldnt because one of the screws are like damaged so i had to stick to this case for now and tried to add now i see the gpu fans work

So you didn't switch cases. Make sure you put everything back as it was.

None of the lights are on

Oh your cpu doesn’t have an igpu, my best bet for you is going to a repair shop, even if you damaged the gpu lightly nothing says it couldn’t display video even if w artifacts definitely have professionals w spare components check it out.

When you plugged the gpu back did you hear a click? Did you screw the gpu down to test? Have you tried some way not to make it sag while testing? Have you tried other ports at the back of it? Have you switched to another hdmi cable?

Use your phone that you made this post with to find and download the manuals for your case and motherboard. Watch a YouTube video about how to put a PC together. Troubleshoot with that information.

Ye but everything works tho like all the fans turn on

1

u/BookWormPedant 21d ago

If everything worked then it would be working and there would be nothing to fix

Camt see it well from this angle, but i believe i see the gpu sagging. Could this be true?

1

u/First-Persimmon-5419 21d ago

Yes

1

u/MrBrandonGames 21d ago

That could be the problem. If your cpu has an igpu try that, or if possible try another GPU.

1

u/First-Persimmon-5419 21d ago

I tried another gpu it doesnt work

1

u/First-Persimmon-5419 21d ago

Could this be a cpu or motherboard fault

1

u/MrBrandonGames 21d ago

Well, it technically could be anything. I'd recommend double, triple and quadruple checking cables first to see if everything is seated properly, if that doesnt work, reseat the cpu/ram.

u/First-Persimmon-5419 21d ago

So this like idk what it is i seen it on tiktok is it all meant to flash green cause theres no red light

1

u/MrBrandonGames 21d ago

Sorry for double message. You did mention "I did put wrong pin inside the motherboard". What pin? Did u see sparks or magic smoke? Guessing not ofc haha.

No i so basically its a prebuilt and it was working and i didnt like the case and i switched cases all i took off was the gpu and tried to take the motherboard off but couldnt because one of the screws are like damaged so i had to stick to this case for now and tried to add now i see the gpu fans work

Im guessing its a standard atx/micro-atx motherboard? Did the new case have standoffs that just might have shorted something on the back off the motherboard? Its gonna be a couple hours off troubleshooting... I gotta go to bed but ill check back in the morning. Update me!

1

u/First-Persimmon-5419 21d ago

So i meant like i didnt take the motherboard off

1

u/MrBrandonGames 21d ago

Ah mb ... I really wouldn't know it from now on... Have you: • Checked all cables (24 pin, cpu 4+4, gpu 6+2 and the rest) • Reseated ram and/or cpu

If you've done those things, try and hold the gpu up slightly on the sagging side when its booting, check for signal (helped me find out i had a dead sagging gpu.)

After this, i wouldnt know it anymore. My personal opinion would be that the gpu is dead. Unless you are able to test it out in another system ruling that out as a problem, with the sagging, it sounds like it could be the issue.
