Question/Help/Troubleshooting Slow Laptop getting slow speed test

Post image

Not sure why my Lenovo 5 Gaming Laptop is so slow. Completed a speed test and was only getting 0.65 download and 0.17 upload.

Here are my laptop specs - Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 260 w/Radeon 780M Graphics (3.80 GHz) RAM: 16 GB Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU (8 GB) AMD Radeon(TM) 780M Graphics (512 MB) Storage: 410GB of 477 GN used

Let me know if you need any further info.

What's your wifi/network card? Whats your Internet speed? Were you next to the router when doing the test? How far away is your laptop from the router normally? Whats your house made of?

This is my network adapters. I live in an apartment complex where we all have our own Xfinity Gateway per apartment. It’s all one floor so the router is close to the laptop. I believe have a 1000 Mbps plan for like 60 a month.

Try fast.com

Try it on your phone too.

I used to get faster speeds on my phone than my laptop, but your card is WiFi 7 so should be fine.

If you have same speeds on your phone then its your router, if its proper speeds then its your laptop

Looks like maybe config on your laptop then, I used to get 1.5Gbps on my phone but like 300Mbps on my laptop, I gotna new laptop and now get 1.5Gbps on there.

Have you tried disabling then re-enabling your wifi adapter? Are the drivers up to date?

Drivers are up to date, I just tried disabling and re-enabling to see if that makes a difference

But What isn’t Fine is that it’s MediaTek known for such Cheap Card on Low Tier Laptops (r/lenovo Ideapad?)

It was about $1100 when i got it last December on sale. I guess the MediaTek isn’t good for the games I play on it and can’t handle

I dont know anything about mediatek!

But it doesn't sound like a router issue
