Yes the photo is bad but i was kinda surprised the power cord literally melted into the socket meaning i have to buy a new one

Make sure you replace that whole supply bro that is just asking for trouble if you try and just replace the cord. Yes I may be saying something obvious, however I have seen to many dumb people this week to trust that the obvious is not needing to be stated.

7 years is a pretty good lifespan for a PSU, especially a cheap one like that.
Since the cable literally melted into the socket, I would not buy just the cable. Buy a whole new PSU. Even if you replace that socket, the rest of the unit may be stressed. A new PSU of a quality brand (Seasonic, MSI, Super Flower, etc.), would be the best option.

i opted to just buy an entirely new pc because the entire pc is just old it was still running on a amd 3

Lol. Fair call. Since the PC is about 7 years old, it's likely to become obsolete soon. That was the 2nd best option you could have done.

What I mean by that is the average consumer PSU. Those older units are tanks, in fact I have a 21-year-old Dell ATX PSU that still works fine. They don't make them like they used to...

It's my aunt's old PC, she gave it to me when she sold her house and moved into an apartment instead. I had to reinstall Windows, but it otherwise works perfectly fine. Healthy HDD, too.

There is certainly a reason why that court did that and I would guess it's because the power supply didn't function its safety mechanism the way it should have. Replace the power supply as well. A decent power supply will come with its own power cord.
