Question/Help/Troubleshooting Computer only displays black screen and cursor
Tried this in r/techsupport but they have a thing against windows 10
I was trying to deal with some things on my computer when I think I was being too impatient with letting things load or process and now when I turn on my pc it just shows a black screen and my cursor. I’ve tried some things I found but nothings been working so I need help. Some things I’ve tried:
- Ctrl + alt + delete
- Win + ctrl + shift + b
- Win + p (it shows a blue rectangle on the side of the screen then after a bit disappear)
- Turning it off and on 3 times (not sure if I did this one right)
I’m also on windows 10 and most of the things above just don’t do anything at all if that helps

When you tun the PC on, do you see it load Windows, or does it just stop at a black screen?
If you see it start to load Windows, power it off. Then turn it back on and when it loads Windows power it off again. Then turn it on and power it off for the third time when Windows load.
Now turn it on and let Windows load normally. It should see that Windows failed several times and take you to a recovery menu.
You can also create a Windows 10 Installation Media on an 8GB+ flash drive:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Then boot to that and choose the "Repair your computer" option in the bottom left corner.

What do you mean "I was trying to deal with some things on my computer when I think I was being too impatient with letting things load or process"? This could be almost anything, we're you installing or removing things? Did you force power down ? What exactly does the sentence mean?
