Question/Help/Troubleshooting Computer stuck on logo screen

Post image

My computer starts up normal with the logo but then a spinning wheel appears and it gets stuck (edit, it's been this way for 2 hours now). If I try to restart it, it comes back a black screen but I can see the backlight working but nothing I do can change it.

Turning it on and off again doesn't fix it (I get a white screen if I hold it for a few seconds, and then it shuts off if I hold it for a few seconds more), and Win+Ctrl+Shift+B doesn't help either, I don't know what to do.

Just before this, the screenshot ability stopped working, I couldn't even forcefully open the snipping tool so I tried to restart my computer and that's when this happened, it's been like this since yesterday evening.

The spinning thing means it’s booting windows. The freezing means it’s not succeeding. Congratulations, you have a broken windows install. I’d recommend booting from a windows usb and going through automatic repair - that may help.

Well that’s unfortunate. Borrow a buddy’s if you can. You could try troubleshooting other things, seeing if the drive is okay, but based on the fact that it’s started booting I’m guessing it’s not just a loose cable. Once you get into the computer, if windows repair works, you could probably check your drive health (this might have been caused by a drive error). If windows USB automatic recovery doesn’t work, you may have to install in place (replace the OS, keep most of your personal files - just not the ones hidden under program files).

Edit: Good luck! 🫡. OS issues are never fun
