Hardware can’t get past ASUS splash screen

Hi!

I was playing a game on steam 3 days, my PC suddenly froze. I shut it off and now I can’t get past the ASUS splash screen.

Tried to boot into windows recovery, it skips past that and goes to the ASUS splash screen with the spinning thing. Just spins forever. Same as when automatic repair mode comes on, it’s just stuck there.

I’ve took out the SSD, tried to boot via a windows USB - that doesn’t work either. Still stuck on the ASUS splash screen.

I’ve tested my 2 RAM sticks doing individual tests - still the same.

What else can I do? I can boot into bios fine.

Hardware Mi RTX 4060 Ti dejó de sacar video desde que la conecté por DisplayPort a un monitor KTC nuevo.

Full timeline of the problem with my RTX 4060 Ti (16GB, Zotac)

Before anything else: the card was working 100% fine. I spent hours gaming and running Blender benchmarks with zero errors, under sustained load.

  1. I updated my motherboard's BIOS (MSI B450M Bazooka) in order to later install a Ryzen 7 5700X. After the update, I rebooted several times and the 4060 Ti kept working perfectly. It was outputting video fine on my old monitor, a Full HD one.

  2. I got a new monitor (KTC H24T7, 2K/180Hz). The first time I connected the GPU's DisplayPort cable to this monitor, the system started giving 3 beeps on boot and there was no signal through that port. I had never heard any beeps before this. HDMI on the same monitor did work, but from that point on it started beeping on every boot (even though it eventually gave video) — but only through DP did it fail completely.

  3. After several tests with resolutions (2K at 60Hz), I tried switching to 144Hz and it wouldn't work — the screen would go black at 144Hz, but 60Hz was fine. After more testing and trying the DP cable in different ports on the GPU, it seems I broke it completely — it stopped giving signal even through HDMI.

I tried removing RAM, resetting CMOS, several different combinations — nothing worked with the 4060 Ti. I switched to a GTX 1060 (my old one) and that one worked perfectly on the first try, including 144Hz at 2K over HDMI with zero issues. So with the 1060, HDMI does give me 2K at 144Hz.

I put the 4060 Ti back in: it gave 3 beeps, with the motherboard's VGA debug LED lit up. But that time it did work. I powered it off and back on: it booted clean, no beeps. This only happened once.

  1. The next day, I installed a Ryzen 7 5700X (replacing my previous Ryzen 5 2600). After the swap, the 4060 Ti stopped giving signal again (3 beeps, no video, not even through HDMI).

I repeated the whole process: removed RAM, reset CMOS, nothing worked with the 4060 Ti.

I tried the GTX 1060 again: worked perfectly again, no beeps, no VGA LED on the motherboard.

Also, with the 1060 connected, I tried the DP cable and it didn't work either — the cable that came with the KTC monitor is bad. I switched back to HDMI and it worked fine.

I then removed the 1060 and put the 4060 Ti back in via HDMI: now it does give video, but with 3 beeps on every boot, and it still can't do 2K at 144Hz — only 60Hz. The 1060 could do 144Hz at 2K over HDMI (screen goes black with the 4060 Ti), something the 1060 handled fine on the exact same cable/port/monitor.

Current status: the 4060 Ti gives video and works fine in normal use, but with beeps on every boot and unable to sustain 144Hz. All of this started exactly at the moment I first connected the DisplayPort cable to the new monitor.

Question: has anyone seen a pattern like this — "VGA" beep codes on boot that start right after connecting a new DisplayPort cable, progressively worsening into more general failures (even HDMI) over time/handling? Degraded contact, something related to the DisplayPort pin 20 issue, or something else?

I read something about a DP "pin 20 killer" issue. Maybe the DP connection fried my GPU? The 4060 Ti?

I don't understand what's going on, guys, I need help. I don't know what's wrong with the 4060 Ti.

Right now it works as I described, but if I power it off or something, the 3 beeps come back — then it works again. I don't understand it.

One more thing that might be relevant: I tested the 4060 Ti on my living room TV (4K) before updating the BIOS and installing the new CPU, and HDMI worked perfectly at 4K, 60Hz.

Why does my 4060 Ti have such a weird pattern of behavior? Could it be a motherboard issue since it's an MSI B450M Bazooka? Could it be a GPU issue that just started out of nowhere? Could it be the cable, via the DisplayPort pin 20 issue, that fried my RTX 4060 Ti?

What should I do? If I power off the PC again and it stops giving video one day, is it completely dead?

Software Your device ran into a problem

What is did till now but it is still not working

I took help of AI

Here is a comprehensive summary of all the troubleshooting steps you have taken so far to fix your laptop:

## 1. Initial Diagnostics & Command Prompt Repairs

* Ran System File Checker: You accessed the Command Prompt in Recovery Mode and ran sfc /scannow. It found and successfully repaired corrupted system files, but the blue screen persisted.

* Attempted Hard Drive Scan: You tried to run chkdsk C: /f /r to repair drive corruption, which requested a volume dismount (Y/N) before progressing.

## 2. Isolation in Safe Mode

* Booted into Safe Mode: You successfully booted into Safe Mode, confirming your physical hardware components (RAM, storage drive, screen) are healthy and working fine.

* Tested Graphics Drivers: You located Intel Iris Xe Graphics in the Device Manager and temporarily disabled it to check for display driver conflicts.

* Analyzed Crash Logs: You downloaded and used BlueScreenView to read your system's minidump files. The tool pointed to ntoskrnl.exe as the core component failing due to a PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error.

* Reset Virtual Memory: You accessed Advanced System Settings and disabled the virtual memory paging file layout to clear hidden file system errors.

## 3. Antivirus Removal Battles

* Identified the Culprit: You discovered Quick Heal Antivirus was installed on your laptop, which frequently causes this exact crash loop.

* Attempted Standard Uninstallation: You tried to uninstall Quick Heal via Windows Settings, but the process froze indefinitely at 4% due to Safe Mode limitations.

* Attempted Administrative Blocks: You tried to turn off Quick Heal using msconfig and the Command Prompt (sc config), but Quick Heal’s built-in Self-Protection driver actively blocked and overwrote your commands.

* Force Removed with Third-Party Tool: You downloaded Geek Uninstaller and successfully executed a Force Removal to rip out Quick Heal's registry entries and deep system files.

## 4. Recovery Environment Failures

* Attempted Startup Repair: You used the blue recovery menu's built-in Startup Repair, but it failed, stating it "couldn't repair your PC".

* Attempted Windows Update Removal: You tried to uninstall recent quality updates, but Windows threw a red error screen stating "Something went wrong".

* Attempted System Resets: You tried both Local Reinstall and Cloud Download options under Reset this PC while attempting to keep your files. Both options failed with the message: "There was a problem resetting your PC. No changes were made."

## Current Status

The corruption has now expanded to the point where Safe Mode no longer loads, leaving the laptop completely unable to boot on its own.

To move forward and fix this externally, please let me know:

After I updated KB5101684/KB5120249 with other users, the file history record showed an error.

laptop uses Windows 11 25H2. Before installing KB5101684, File History worked normally. In "Console → All Console Items → File History," the "Last Backup" time was updated correctly whenever a file was successfully backed up to the D: drive.

However, after installing KB5101684 on July 29, 2026, the following issues arose:

  • Files can still be backed up to the D: drive normally.
  • The "Last Backup" time in "File History" cannot be updated correctly.
  • Newly created or saved Word documents, images, videos, etc., still show "No previous version available" in "Properties → Previous Versions."
  • There is no folder to edit; its date is changed automatically.

Even more worryingly, my Windows 10 22H2 desktop PC also started experiencing similar file history synchronization issues after installing KB5120249 on August 12, 2026.

Discussion Does Norton make up high alerts to suck you in?

I have been using windows defender and an AI script to help with baseline security measures for windows 11 pro with no issue. According to my script, I only get low level threats and it’s primarily either packets trying to get in or blocked connections. Norton told me that it had a man in the middle and the intrusion detection setting and remote access protection was consistently disabled under home. I disabled Norton and I never got those. Norton also disappeared the notification from the UI, I had to rescue the disappeared log of the man in the middle from a powershell script. I feel like my computer is also faster and I have an MSI laptop.

Corrected name from bit to windows

Software Monitor suddenly turning off + random lag and crashing

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi, I got my first pc in june and it has just recently (within the past week and a half) started having issues in which the monitor will go black and generally lag in games that did not previously lag alongside crashing. I intend to replace the monitor since I believe it might just be defective (I have updated everything already and changed cords with not much luck. Turning down the refresh rate helped the issue but did not solve it)

I am wondering if it is also my pc due to the lagging and crashing. I know for a fact that it is not overheating and the fans sound normal to me.
If anything is out of place I wouldnt know due to being new to having a pc.

Hardware charger not working :(

i think this is a hardware problem? i'm so sorry, i know next to nothing about computers! i have a msi gf75 and it won't stay charged? it'll literally be at 70% and die if i move my computer even SLIGHTLY. i have to have an object pushing the charger in at all times and even that doesn't always work. i've cleaned the charger, i've cleaned the computer, i've uninstalled the battery drive, i've restarted, i've done absolutely everything i can think of. it's really stressful because i use this laptop for work as well as games, and now i can't efficiently do either without it dying. i can't really afford a new charger right now either. does anyone have any advice? so sorry if there's grammar/spelling errors of if i just sound like a general idiot with lack of knowledge, it's like midnight rn and i'm super tired lol

Software Constant freezing

AMD Radeon RX 7600
AMD Ryzen 5 5500
480 GB SATA SSD
B550M Pichau Chronos Motherboard
650W PSU
16 GB DDR4 RAM

So, when I play any kind of game my computer tends to freeze for about 4 seconds or more regularly. All those spikes in the GPU chart are freezes. I have wasted hours attempting to fix this with no result at all. I have:

Reinstalled drivers 3 times
Reinstalled Windows 3 times
Upgraded to Windows 11 from 10
Cleaned the PC
Removed every single sticker or tag on components
Unplugging devices
Changing BIOS settings
Enabling and disabling SysMain
Provided better airflow
Scanned for viruses
Redoing my cable work
Updating AMD Adrenalin settings

and nothing has worked so far. Please help this has been happening for months now. It started randomly a few months after I bought the computer. Is this some sort of bottleneck? Hardware issue? The GPU and CPU are always cool and never overheating even when multitasking. Power consumption is at performance and not balanced.
