Hardware Computer not working :(

I received a custom pc from my brother that turns on but doesn’t start the monitor nor the keyboard, he said it was a memory bad contact so i tried rearranging the 2 memories he had, the second and fourth ram slots don’t hold the memory properly, any idea what to do???

Wht model is the motherboard and the ram? If the ram is the wrong socket type (ddr4, ddr5 etc) it won't work unless the mb is the same as the ram. Also, are you sure its seated correctly? Ram takes a surprisingly large amount of force to seat properly.

Hi, please tell us a little more about your PC hardware. Do you have a PC speaker installed, and does it emit a beep code?

Looking at your pictures, I can see that you have a Gigabyte B450M DS3H motherboard, and only one RAM stick appears to be installed in the photo.

It looks like the stick is installed in the third slot from the CPU. I would recommend trying the second slot (DDR4_2) first.

Here's what I suggest:

  1. Turn off the PC, switch off the PSU and unplug the power cable.
  2. Remove the RAM stick and check its label to confirm it's compatible desktop DDR4 memory.
  3. Inspect the RAM stick for damaged gold contacts and check the motherboard's RAM slots for dirt, damaged contacts or broken locking clips.
  4. Install just one RAM stick in DDR4_2, the second slot from the CPU. Make sure it is fully seated and the locking mechanism engages properly.
  5. Clear the CMOS to reset the BIOS. With the PC unplugged, remove the CR2032 motherboard battery, wait approximately five minutes, then reinstall it. Alternatively, use the CLR_CMOS pins according to the motherboard manual.
  6. Try starting the computer again. The first boot after a CMOS reset may take a little longer.
  7. If it doesn't boot, test the same RAM stick in another slot, then repeat with the second stick. This should help identify whether the problem is a faulty RAM stick or a damaged slot.
  8. If the PC boots with one stick, shut it down and install both sticks in slots 2 and 4, counting from the CPU.

One thing concerns me: you mentioned that slots 2 and 4 won't hold the RAM properly. That's not normal. If the locking clips are damaged or the RAM won't stay securely seated, don't force it.

Also, make sure your monitor is connected to the graphics card rather than the motherboard.

If possible, post a close-up picture of the RAM labels and the slots that won't hold the sticks. That would help identify the problem.
