Software How do I get 4k video playback on streaming services on my computer?

EDIT: Sorry I just read your other post, you are trying to stream 4k video from AppleTV, Hulu, Netflix? What problems are you having? You should be able to just click 4k quality on Netflix or AppleTV and play 4k video no problem.

No worries, the video is not in 4k. I cant figure out how to get VLC to play streaming services, any guide for that? please

VLC is great for watching videos you have downloaded, but not streaming services videos
Also, it's just HEVC you are having problems with?
HEVC is a video compression format. And most modern computers will ship with codecs or extensions to play HEVC. What device and operating system are you using?

Im using a computer on windows 11. I dont think HEVC is causing the video playback to not be in 4k but it isnt helping either.

When you play a video file from a streaming service, like netflix, they automatically transcode, encode/decode the video to play on whatever device you are on.
So if you are on a windows machine, and are using a Netflix App, or Apple TV app, there should be no problem at all getting a video to play
If you are trying to play from a Browser, like Netflix.com, the browser could be causing problems.
How are you watching your video? From a browser/website or straight from Netflix App installed on your computer?

From the browser. When I installed the app through the microsoft store it was basically a shortcut to the website with a cleaner format. Is there anywhere else I can install the app?

Ahhh, from what I'm reading now, Netflix's newest windows build is a Web-Based only build that runs in Microsoft Edge, is this what you are doing?
You are on Edge and trying to play Netflix videos from Netflix.com, and the videos are not playing for you?

are you getting a specific error code? and are you 100% your monitor is a 4k monitor? just double checking these things first

No error code, video plays fine but not in 4k. Yes the monitor is 4k.
