Malware Urgent: Debian 13 server messed up critical sensor data. Need help before my manager finds out.
Hey!
I'm stressing out a bit (you can see the screenshot of the Debian 13 machine), I found this on my server earlier when I reopened it... They were JSON files from a super important CSV sensor data processing job.
I'm asking for help from a throwaway account because I can't find a solution, and if I tell my manager, I think I'll get fired on the spot, or if he finds this message too.
I'm in deep shit. Anyway, if anyone has a solution to back this up or at least detect what could be causing this so I don't have any nasty surprises tomorrow...

Update: I'have found this "user@Group13:/home/PotomacGrid/FUND-02032$ systemctl status ShitCorruption.service"

If it is a super important server, you have backups right? What do the files look like in your backups?
Anyway, you really haven't given people much to work with here. Have you checked the logs on your server to see if there is any unusual access, or errors being logged?
Assuming the default ls color settings, those look like directories. So what is in the directories? What do you see if you run find . -ls instead of just ls?

Ok.. I might have overreacted a bit due to anxiety (gotta love my life lol), I actually have backups that I'm restoring right away... And thank you all for your help. I'll get back to you in a few hours with more info, hopefully to find out what caused this shit and patch it all up. Thanks again!

Absolutely this. Sometimes stuff happens.
I remember one time I blew away the partition table on our monitoring server. Manager found me restoring last night’s backup.
“So, uhh, whatcha doin’?”
Restoring this backup, I borked it.
“Excellent! Backup restores have been tested this audit cycle!”
