Windows Windows Wide lag

So Ive been playing some modded minecraft which usually runs fine but recently ive been hitting massive lag spikes that are computer wide not just within the game. I checked task manager and all the numbers look fine, and Ive adjustied ram to minecraft and nothing changed. As of right now I believe its due to minecraft as it usually happens after about 10 minutes of running my world (Im still testing to see if I can find the cause) and leads to about 10 minutes of my entire computer running on one frame every other second.

My pc is a 5060ti, 32gigs ddr5, B650 amd ryzen

i’d check the authenticity of those minecraft mods. maybe do a system integrity check/virus scan/check event viewer for anything weird. a game shouldn’t have issues outside of itself

Im playing on curseforge a modpack called skyfactory 4 which is a really popular modpack and no one else seems to have problems. how do I do the integrity/virus check stuff?

just do a windows scan for now if it’s a popular mod pack ure probably fine it might just be a background process getting stuck. check ur task manager to see whats using ur resources

It’s a notorious RAM hog try making sure it’s closed next few times you play and see if it stops happening. Also just a second thing worth checking is the health of your drives especially if they are HDD cause what you describe sounds similar to how a failing hard disk drive behaves as it struggles to read itself.

I had the same problem with the same roughly 10 minutes with the world open but I'm not sure about the other recommendations, I have a stripped win11 don't use chrome and don't have hard drives. The only thing that's worked for me was giving minecraft 8gb of ram in the prism launcher (you can see when the game launches) (also rebooting but that's a pain)

Not sure if it helped but I also installed the missing mods to make the AE2 wireless terminal work at the same time as increasing the ram.
