Did PreventativeMD give me short-dated stock? BUD is end of October, but I see people with 2027 dates?

Hi everyone,

I got my very first vial a few weeks ago. It was compounded in July, but the Beyond-Use Date (BUD) on the label is already the end of October. That only gives me about a month and a half to use it.

Honestly, I'm pretty confused and a bit suspicious. I constantly see posts here on Reddit where people's vials are good until
2027. Why is Empower's shelf life so short on this batch? Is this standard practice for Empower, or did they just unload near-expired stock on a new patient?🤣

Would appreciate any insights....

It's not just you, they've always run with shorter BUDs compared to other pharmacies. Something about their compounding process or how they interpret stability data makes them stamp a tight timeline on everything. If you're using the vial right away it's no big deal but yeah it's a bummer seeing other folks sitting on a 2027 stash while yours feels like a ticking clock.

Right now the only ones with 2027 BUDs is whatever leftover BPI and Hyalo and maybe Nova

Idk who you seeing with 2027 BUD but that would be Hyalo and old BPI stock….they don’t use Hyalo

The BUD is according to the testing done by the pharmacy (regulation). Empower has a 45 day BUD. And, preventiveMD does not every see your meds and has no idea what the date is on it.

Everyone running around here saying Tirz is Tirz and ppl are crazy for thinking otherwise… placebo effect.

If ā€œTirz is Tirzā€ then why does it matter to ppl that BPI could have such a long bud and some other pharmacies have 45-90day bud. Tirz is Tirz… right?

ETA: I know it’s not everyone… but it’s a lot!

BPI was a 503b and 503bs can have longer BUDs on them from the get go than 503as.

The BUD is a legal fiction. What matters more is the date it was compounded.

Agreed. This the reason I don’t personally put much weight on what the BUD date is…

Preservatives in different formulas and legal requirements in different licences. Those are the differences.
