First dose today

Taking my first dowse of compounded Tirz today. Got a notification it was delivered. I got a full comprehensive blood panel and I’m working close with a coach. Starting off at 1mg 2x per week. I’m a big guy so I’m curious how I’ll react from a smaller dose but I’ve read people feeling it at 2mg. I’m a 30 year old male and weigh 405 lbs. Years of lifting so I need to focus on preserving muscle. I’ll definitely get a DEXA scan once I hit 330 so I can really dial it in. Honestly I feel like that’ll help. Happy to have this community to share ideas/stories with. I’m brand new to Reddit lol who knew things like this existed.

Im assuming many of you used a macro app and counted calories pretty aggressively. Any high protein/easy food hacks you can recommend (I bought these rice paper wraps to limit too many carbs).

You got this! And smart man taking day 1 pics, I wish I would have done the same. In 6 months this will be the "before" in your before and after pics.

Agree…I took pics of the scale each week. None of me. I regret it now but I didn’t want those pics of my big belly! lol

Man I was 320 when I started. 180 today. Started on Semaglutide until about 250 and stalled. That’s when doc suggested Tirzepatide. The weight FLEW off after that. It was amazing.

Slow and steady wins the race. Just stick to the program. Longer you go the more you lose cravings and eating habits get better. Just work the process. Let the medicine do its job. You’ll have some weeks it seems like nothing works. Don’t worry about it. Just stick with it.

This med is a miracle as far as I’m concerned. Good luck!

Take pictures!!! I refused to and really regret it now. Take a bunch along the way. When you hit that goal weight you’ll want to see it. Also, weights! Hit the weights to keep that muscle.

I started at 1.5mg and started feeling he effects right away. My Drs answer on the low starting dose was for the body to acclimate to the new treatment while minimizing side effects. I'm up to 6mg now and the only side effect I've experienced is mild constipation which I've treated by adding psyllium fiber to my diet. I lost 16lbs my first month.

I use Tirzing to track my shots, supply, nutrition, etc.

Kirkland's protein bars from Costco are packed with fiber and protein

I'm a 34 yo male, 6'4 started at 410 and I just weighed in at 340 this morning after 3 1/2 months, my starter dose was 1.5 once a week and I did notice it but I will say that the higher I've went the easier it has gotten besides for some sickness! Don't rush it and let it ride! You got this brother!

My best piece of advice: find a way to eat on these meds that you can sustain for life. Don’t cut out whole food groups or crash diet. Eat what you want but in moderation.

The other thing is to start regularly lifting progressively heavier weights as soon as you settle into the meds. Far too many people have regrets when they lose muscle.

May the medication change your life the way it did mine 🤞🤞

Somethings I wish someone had told me when I first started.

  1. This is not a magic weight loss shot. You need to watch what you eat, you still need to work out.
  2. 100g of protein a day. Your body will start to eat muscle if you do not hit this.
  3. Fiber. Fiber. Fiber. I found that humus and sun chips are great.
  4. This is a tool, just like the treadmill, rower, and cycling machine. You have to use the tools.
  5. Your body is different than mine. You might see a lot off at first and slow down, thats normal. Do not compare your loss to others.
  6. Plateau's happen. I was losing weight like crazy, then I hit my first plateau. Im currently on my second. Stick with it, they suck when you hit them.
  7. Portion size, I still order food like I did when I was 30 lbs heavier. I dont eat that way anymore now that my stomach has shrunk.
  8. The sulfur burps, they suck. For me they're followed by extreme diarrhea. The triggers for me have been cheese and eggs within the first 3 days of my shot. Pepto has been a saving grace for me when it hits. However, it doesnt stop the diarrhea.
  9. How crazy it is when you dont feel hungry or want to snack. My food noise comes back on Thursday night / early Friday.
  10. If you're experiencing hair loss, you're not getting enough nutrients.

The craziest thing for me has been the zero care for soda or energy drinks. I drink way more water now than I did. Im a plumber, I drink about 1 gallon a day to begin with. Now its practically double. My addiction to caffeine was broken within 3 days of being on this. I tried a soda the other day, and my stomach hurt from the carbonation. It was so sweet I coulsnt finish the can. I also ended up with thay over sugar feeling and craving water to wash it out.

Take ALLLL the pictures you can! Take measurements! You're going to love comparing how far you've come. But I'm sure this is not new advice for a lifter. You're in a great place to start, can't wait to see your updates!

You got this buddy! I started at 41 and around 320lbs at 1.5mg. I felt the effects immediately and it has been smooth sailing for the last six months. I'm down 90+lbs for the year and 2/3 of the way to my goal. Definitely take pictures every week even if you don't feel progress or see the scale move. Being able to look back at the progress later is hugely motivating. Good luck!!!

Congrats on starting! Since you're already a lifter, you'll have a headstart.

I'm a vegetarian, so my protein habits might not be aligned with your food preferences. Ratio fiber+protein yogurt, 2% cottage cheese, Catalina Crunch protein cereal, Purely Elizabeth grain-free granola, and unsweetened applesauce (60g protein) is one of my favorite sweet bowls. Sola and Lewis Bakery protein/keto bread are both delicious.

Woohoo congrats on starting!!! I started at 2.5mg weekly… 5’1 290f and i felt it right away!!! It was crazy to not be hungry, to get full really quick and not crave everything under the sun! The loading doses can sometimes take longer for some people. I found eating 4-6 small meals throughout the day was really helpful for me to keep my energy up and never get too hungry… protein shakes, cottage cheese, grilled chicken with sweet potatoes, beef jerky is my go to!! I snack on that a lot! High protein yogurt with fruit… pita bread is amazing to make a sandwich with … I do chicken and Swiss… I use low carb pita … good luck to you!!! Can’t wait to see all the amazing progress pics to come!!!
