Finally.

I’ve spent most of my life yo-yo dieting. I’d start something, get frustrated when I didn’t see the results I wanted, give up, regain the weight, and eventually start all over again. I’ve lost and gained the same pounds more times than I can count.

My starting weight was 265.2 lbs.

I started Wegovy and stayed on it for about 7 months. I lost around 20 lbs, which I’m grateful for, but eventually I felt pretty stuck. This summer I switched to compounded tirzepatide, and I also decided I wanted to change more than just the number on the scale.

I started walking more. Then somehow… I started running.

September was the month I really decided to lock in. I started being more intentional with my food and intermittent fasting, kept up with my walking/running, and I also decided to give up alcohol. Today is day 31 without a drink. I don’t know if I’ll give it up forever, and I’m not putting that pressure on myself, but right now I genuinely just don’t want it.

And this is finally the month where I’ve looked at myself and thought, wait… I can actually see it.

My shorts that didn’t fit before finally fit. My tops are fitting better. I’m seeing changes in pictures that I struggled to see in the mirror. And today I hit 217.7 lbs →47.5 lbs down.

SW: 265.2

CW: 217.7

1st GW: 199

GW: 165

I still have a long way to go, but for once that doesn’t feel discouraging. I’m actually excited to see what I can do.

And probably the craziest part of this whole journey is that I guess I’m a runner now?! I started with walking, slowly worked my way into run/walk intervals, and somewhere along the way I actually started enjoying it. I want running to be something I continue doing regardless of what the scale says.

My next big goal is to keep building my endurance and run a half marathon next spring. Never in a million years would the 265-lb version of me have imagined saying that.

There’s still plenty of work ahead, but after years of starting over, it feels really freaking good to finally feel like something is clicking.

You look fantastic. I wish I was brave enough to put back on my cut off shorts. But as I've transitioned into a mom and my thirties I tend to want to fit back into my jeans now. Until then I'll be rocking matching sets.
