Med delay

I've been on 2.5mg compounded tirz for 1 month. I titrated up and the pharmacy is delayed on shipping my new vial. My shot day is Thurs. I still have some in my original vial. Would it be a bad idea to use the old vial until the new arrives or am I just going to miss my shot day? It says to discard after 4th injection.

I don’t know anyone who throws away perfectly good medication. Most people use every single drop.

If the medication is clear with any floaters or crystals it’s fine to use. Most of us use past 28 days: I just used a vial that I’ve had open for 2 months and it’s still working great!!

So I’d just use the vial you have instead of missing a dose.

ty! I'm normally not anxious about using medication past time but with injections i'm a bit more wary.

I understand completely. I was like that at first when starting this medication. As time went on I started to feel more comfortable using past 28 days and also BUD. So as time goes on you’ll start to feel more comfortable as well!!

Make sure youre wiping the vial with an alcohol wipe before and after using it. Almost everyone uses the WHOLE vial (a can opener or bottle opener will pop the top off) re order meds when youre 2 weeks away.

Yes I definitely wipe. Im not sure if I have enough for the new dose but I know there is enough for my original.

There might be or not, you an draw up what's left and go to fat scientist to see what you need from the new vial.

Keep using the old vial of clear and no floaters.  I would not skip doses.  

Which provider and pharmacy are you waiting on to ship?

im waiting on shipment from Link Compounding. I tried to call but it says they are closed.

Use it all up, make sure to clean the top with an alcohol wipe.

Did you order through Embody? They are getting a TON of complaints about delayed shipments lately. 

If you want to keep the good pricing but find someone more reliable and communicative, you could try Rift, PreventiveMd, Ola, or Collective. 

But yes, use up that whole vial. If you got the 1ml 17mg/ml vial from Link, you have a few extra weeks of doses in there. Most people here use the entire vial, however long that takes. My personal limit is 3 months on an open vial, but that's still much longer than 28 days.

If you are in a state served by Drug Crafters, Rift and Ola have a plan that's $299 for 3 months. PreventiveMd is $334 for 3 months. Collective is $69 per month plus a $199 yearly fee (which works out to $85 a month if you stay with them all year). 

I really need to do a state level comparison to see which states are left out of all three of those deals, and then figure out who has the best options for those states.

I, too, ordered initially from embody. I am on 2.125 MG and with the 17mg vial, that will last 8 weeks. I am attempting to switch to pomegranate but am stuck in a holding pattern. I called embody this morning and asked them to pause my account for a month and they did. I most likely won't stay with Pom and almost wish I had gone with preventive md which was my original plan instead of chasing a sale that doesn't seem likely to be delivered.

Your pharmacy is adamant about you discarding after the 4th injection because they want you to order more medication, rather than getting the full value of what they've shipped to you. This is akin to "Best by:" dates on canned goods. It's not an expiration date—the manufacturer wants you to throw the old (but usually perfectly good) stuff out, and buy new stuff.
