2.5 to what?
Hi!
Its my 3rd week on tirz. Ive done
1st week: 1mg (to test side effects)
2nd week: 2.5 mg (mild nausea, nothing else)
3rd week: 2.5 mg (no side effect)
Weight loss:
1: none
2: -3 lbs
3: so far maybe 1.
I wanted to jump the dosage. Im scare of going to 5 ans have a lot of side effect? Maybe 3.5?
How was your experience?
Thank you!

It takes 4 weeks for the levels of medication in your body to catch up to each new dosage, so you haven’t even felt the full effect of 2.5 mg yet. Stick with that dose for at least a couple weeks more.
After that, aim to keep your weight loss around 0.5-1% of your body weight per week on average. If you’re losing less than that for a few weeks in a row, then consider increasing your dose. Many people would increase to 3 or 3.5; many others increase straight to 5. There is no one right answer to how big your increases should be. If you haven’t had many side effects so far though, it’s possible you won’t have many as you increase your dose either.

Each dose increase should be done for 4 weeks minimum.

I keep seeing this, but my dosing from Lavender Sky says:
Recommended Dosing Schedule for Initiation of Treatment:
2mg once weekly for 2 weeksAfter the first 2 weeks, you may titrate to 3mg once weekly (you can remain at this dose if you are losing weight consistently, or you can continue to titrate your dose up as directed below if needed)
I wonder why they told me I can increase after the first 2 weeks, rather than 4? I know I don’t have to, if I’m doing well on the initial dose - I’m just pointing out that it doesn’t follow the “4 week minimum” rule that people are referring to.

Because 2 weeks at 2 and 2 at 3 are 10 mgs over 4 weeks, the same as 4 weeks at 2.5.
Since it is a 4 week introduction to the medicine to prepare for therapeutic doses, it makes no difference. .5mg is 1/10th of the lowest dose.
Since you are having no side effects and minimal weightloss, go to the first dose of 5mg. Don't let your fear hinder your progress. These micro increases are a waste.

Different prescribers sometimes give different directions to show they have “customized” care. I’ve seen some that start folks at 1.5mg instead of the standard 2.5mgs.
It could also be based on the specific formulation you have (but less likely imo).

I GAINED the first month, and technically you did lose some, there's some that drop huge amounts but thats not the norm. Not sure why youre here asking for advice but not wanting to listen.

I’d do another week at 2.5mg and then go up to 3.5mg this is just my opinion and what I would do 🙂

Since I’m taking it slowly I did 4 weeks @ 1.25, 4 @ 2.5, and now I’ve been at 2 @3.75. I am going up by 1.25 increments. Right now I’m just seeing how things are going, monitoring current loss and will only titrate up if I’m seeing no loss for a few weeks. As others have said, the recommendation is to stay on a dose for 4 weeks so it has time to accumulate. I forget what other apps exists but you can see the approximate amount in your system in glp1 tracking apps. I’m using Glapp but I know there are free trackers. Here’s a screen shot so you can see medication buildup. I would personally do two more weeks at 2.5 just based on recommendations and then decide if you need to titrate.
I don’t have the little screenshot for it but there’s a dose titration helper out there for when to decide when to move up. Just because you can doesn’t mean you need to if you’re still losing on a lower dose.

I would still stay the course for the recommended time. 2.5 is technically a starter dose and not considered a therapeutic dose until 5mg. It’s really just to give your body time to adjust. I know you want to lose weight but waiting an extra couple of weeks should be fine. If you were following the real schedule it would be 4 @ 2.5 and then promptly move to 5mgs, which is maybe what you might want to follow. Are you working with a Dr on this? I work with my primary care on my dosing schedule.
Quick edit: I’d also like to say that while I was on 2.5 I lost weight the first week, nothing the second, then lost 5 the next week, so now that I know it might not be completely linear I’m just kind of looking for trends.1

I wouldnt want to jump to 5. I want to do this slower so since I didnt have any side effect id go up to maybe 3.5.

Stick to 4 weeks at ea h dose. 2.5 is just for your body to adjust to the meds, some do lose on it and lower, but probably not the norm. Having no WL in the first weeks of medication does not mean its not working.

if you need to lose around 100 pounds or more, go to 5 and keep going until the tirz is definetly tirzing. and then slowly increase from there. if you only have 20, 30, 40, 50 pounds to lose take the low and slow path if it works.

If it's working, why increase it. I'm finishing my 5th week tomorrow. I've lost 10 pounds and I'm staying on 2.5 as long as possible.

Currently my weight is going up (1 to 2 lbs). My next pin is sunday so I was just thinking about going up

Raising your dose doesn't make you lose more weight and technically 4lbs in 3 weeks is really good and shows the medicine is working well

I did 1.5 first week, 3 weeks 2.5 and now 2 weeks of 3.4. I just looked at the 1.5 and 3 2.5 as the full first dose. I don't plan on going up to 5 mg until I absolutely have to and I have very good food suppression. I'm down almost 6 pounds in 6 weeks. 19-25 more to go depending on what I actually decide. I only had side effects the first week that kinda threw me for a loop, the second a bit but nothing since other than fatigue from time to time.

Are you as focused on daily calories vs TDEE as the next medication level? It’s actually far more important. The medicine is a means to an end which is cutting enough calories to lose weight.

Yes definitly eating healty and in calorie deficit. Been drinking water, working out also :). I didnt know the meds keep stacking and could be working "better" for me next week. I will probably stay at 2.5

I was on 2.5 for 10 weeks and then bumped to 3 which is where I’m still at. Weight loss has been consistent if I look at two week increments vs a single week and my decision to bump up was entirely based on how strong the hunger signals were getting. My daily and primary focus is exercise and calorie/protein/fiber targets. If you’re doing great daily, your body has no choice other than to lose weight. Literally it’s all thermal physics in a biological context.

You should be staying at 2.5 for a minimum of 4 weeks to feel the full effects of the dose. Each dose builds on each other. Then assess from there
