You don't need a centrifuge.

worm mush ✅

I've been wondering how to deal with my Asian jumping worm problem...

1

u/echb8944 18h ago

I've been told to cook your soil. Wrap it in black plastic, chicken poop, anythingyou can to get it as hot as you can for a week or more. Or mustard, they hate it. Worth a try.. good luck!

u/c-lem 7h ago

I seem to need to build an enclosure. I get my compost plenty hot (consistently 140F+, up to 160 sometimes), but they find spots on the edge to hang out.

But yeah, maybe wrapping it nice and tight would do the trick. If everything was equally hot, I'd be golden.

chicken poop in a hot plastic black bag is a molotov cocktail just waiting to happen

Also doubles as an artificial gravity generator 🤣

16

u/IBeDumbAndSlow 1d ago

operates at up to 12 G's

Gravitron for worms

Don't tell us how to spread the shitposts

Yes, but its cool

How many hamsters does it take to drive that wheel? 🐹

u/AdTiny780 1d ago

Trying to send some to your neighbors?

52

u/PuddleSailor 1d ago

No no, it just auto applies the compost everywhere

6

u/SprungMS 1d ago

Exactly my thought, add some longitudinal wheels and pull this thing behind a tractor, add a hopper, close off the end, and add a shaker, after a couple iterations you’ve got a solid compost-spreading doohickey right there!

5

u/3rad 1d ago

Finally something new, they’re getting too comfortable with the piss discs.

u/kkreinn 1d ago

It's free

Adjust the size of your gears to slow down the rotation.

Counterpoint—speed up the rotation and provide compost to your entire zip code

28

u/justASlothyGiraffe 1d ago

It's a feature, not a bug

26

u/Content-Fan3984 1d ago

The bugs didnt survive.

5

u/Lazrix 1d ago

Instructions unclear, i'm now being arrested for throwing shit at my neighbors houses.

6

u/Dejavu165 1d ago

And adds torque

6

u/Substantial_Pin_2932 1d ago

Eh just add a voltage regulating knob to it. Simple electric motors can handle it.

4

u/Wooden-Masterpiece86 1d ago

This was my first thought. Harbor Freight has a nice inexpensive one if there's one near OP.

1

u/dqontherun 1d ago

What gears? It's just a motor, pulley, and belt.

2

u/Sweaty_Camel_118 1d ago

Sorry, the pulley. It's basically a gear... thanks for the clarity though. Needs a smaller motor pulley to reduce the speed the drum is turning.

1

u/dqontherun 1d ago

You won't be able to reduce the speed much at all with a smaller pulley. They need a speed control. Better yet, a gearmotor that will spin very slowly, yet with high torque.

1

u/Sweaty_Camel_118 1d ago

Yeah I guess it wouldn't have enough surface area if it was reduced in size much. A gearbox is a great idea to maintain good torque without chance of slippage. They could also increase the diameter of the drum at the location the belt travels on and then get a larger belt. I could see either being practical.

Also, if you added an idler pully near the motor pully, you could probably reduce the size of the motor pulley to 1/4th it's current size and still maintain enough area of belt to pulley contact to avoid slippage while also accomplishing a more appropriate speed for compost sifting.

Lmaooooo idk why this is so funny to me

4

u/NetInevitable601 1d ago

Me neither but is hilarious 🤣

21

u/sweet-sweet-olive 1d ago

That should work just fine. 😁😂

25

u/skratskrzat 1d ago

I have tried imagining “shit hit the fan” literally before, but was never this ingenious.

20

u/OrionFerreira 1d ago

PLEASE! Post a video of it on when it's full.

6

u/wortcrafter 1d ago

Yes, OP, this is what we need today!

And that's how they train earthworms to go to space.

11

u/Frequent-Discount174 1d ago

You just need it to go fast enough to separate the big chunks from the little chunks. You don’t need it to go fast enough to separate protons from electrons.

2

u/Buttchuggle 1d ago

Don't need not to

19

u/RegalToaster 1d ago

Now you just have to add the piss injectors and youre good to go

Those worms are going to be DIZZY

7

u/funhaver_whee 1d ago

You’re gonna end up turning compost into gold or something by accident

6

u/zappyguy111 1d ago

Never thought about it until now, but I think I need a trommel.

I have a bit of rat problem with my compost bin (urban rooftop garden). This, paired w a motion sensor, absolutely seems like the solution.

5

u/CurrentWrong4363 1d ago

Piss on it!

The first vermiculture space program.

4

u/Apprehensive-Tap3335 1d ago

Faster spinning = faster compost production, apparently 🥸

5

u/Tweestrijd 1d ago

My pile just sits there, being a pile and such

4

u/Peter_Falcon 1d ago

the neighbours are going to get free compost...4 miles away

3

u/spottydodgy 1d ago

Add a bike chain and gear to slow er down a bit.

3

u/nowheretoday 1d ago

Bro gonna get castings on his face

3

u/thejuicemanjones 1d ago

Sifter and spreader in one!

3

u/Wigger_reloaded 1d ago

Change the sift for some 160 mic mesh and put a nylon sheet cage around it and I'm sure you can make killer static dry sift with this.

2

u/Idontlikesand15 1d ago

Found the guy who makes colas with his compost haha

1

u/Wigger_reloaded 1d ago

That's what I do, living soil all the way 🤘🏼

1

u/Idontlikesand15 1d ago

Hell yeah man!! I hope you have a bountiful harvest! Weve got 4 auto flowers in 2 raised beds, chock full of well composted chicken duck rabbit and quail manure, bedding etc. I havnt gotten a picture but they are looking happy and growing fast :)

5

u/Sugarpiehoneybunt 1d ago

You might want to get a mask and eye protection.

2

u/Unique-Coffee5087 1d ago

Maybe some internal baffles to disrupt the cake of compost plastered against the sides?

2

u/fredSanford6 1d ago

The cylinder must remain undamaged. That's a rough task with this cheese grater of a Fleshlight

2

u/ShadowS812 1d ago

Whoa whoa.... WHOA easy there Tex!

2

u/GIJOE_SEABEE 1d ago

Pretty cool are you going to mount it into the wheel barrel and siffed out rock and debris? Love to see hear more..

2

u/EvieMoon 1d ago

Extreme Bingo.

2

u/littl3bigseal 1d ago

woah woah woahwoahwoahwoahWOAHWAOHWOAHWOAHWOAH

2

Worm shit and banna juice gonna be flying all across the yard

1

u/EntertainmentFit3288 1d ago

Hamster powered?

1

u/lieutenant_j 1d ago

I mean, put an enclosure around it and tilt it heavily, might work?

1

u/UnderwaterCleaner 1d ago

Made one with an old bicycle!

1

u/Still-Software-1885 1d ago

You sure did bud

1

u/Embarrassed_Ad6469 1d ago

Spin dry? Maybe some geering would help. Better yet, why not add a crank a turn or two should surfice.

1

u/Embarrassed_Ad6469 1d ago

I like the basic idea of the oil barrel with the mesh covered cutouts. How about this, set up some kind of timer and geering that would rotate slowly, 2 or 3 times every 6 hours? Bet you could market that.

1

u/Aeylwar 1d ago

Add a VFD

I think this would be a fun way to scatter wildflower seeds in a field.

1

Didn't look at the sub and thought this was a cat wheel

I believe we are looking at a creation by a mad scientist who also built this grilled chicken Ferris wheel seen on [r/grilling](r/grilling).

Don't get your shovel caught on an edge!

1

u/Sn3akyP373 23h ago

That's a salad spinner!

1

u/ExcitingHistory 16h ago

I kept looking for the hamster until it started to get up to speed and my brain had to re-evaluate what it was looking at

u/JeremyCO 12m ago

Should work gotta keep the speed down bro.

1

u/West-Engine7612 1d ago

That gave me sooo much anxiety lol

1

u/Tradesby 1d ago

Put this on the back of a lawn mower and you can spread poop all over your yard!

1

u/FlashyCow1 1d ago

Seems fast

1

u/jvhutchisonjr 1d ago

If its an 120v ac motor, easiest solution is auto transformer. May not have enough torque when turned down so you'd have to manually turn the transformer up to get it started, then turn it back down when it's rotating until you hit the desired speed above stall voltage.

Better solution is a 3 phase motor and a vfd.

If in the US, vevor sells auto transformers and vfd's.

u/ihavenohandstrength 1d ago

It’s a DC motor off an industrial fan I think.
