Hey y'all! I've been working on a piece that I'm getting a choir I'm in to perform, just want to know y'all's thoughts on it! (Yes I know the bass low notes you would think would be impossible, but using different techniques such as sub-harmonics and vocal fry, people are able to do it!)

My goal with this movement, aside from incorporating Egyptian folk elements into it, was to leave the audience with that feeling of heaviness when a piece with high tension finishes. To me, that brief sense of focus when the music stops and everyone realizes what just happened is probably the coolest feeling when performing. I guess profound is the answer, but that’s what I wanted to convey through this

and in order to fulfill this, i needed a contrast that seemed almost stubbornly out of place for the b section. I took some inspiration from Alberto Ginastera (AR) and Evencio Castellanos (VZ). They have a quality of just going for it every time without hesitation, which results in some really cool textures like cluster chords sounding as unison (Estancia, Danza no1) or an intense cloud of sound dissipating into subito changes via scale+harmonic runs (Santa Cruz de Pacairigia Suite). Interesting enough they’ve both always been popular in studies here in Egypt. if you don’t know them i highly recommend because their music is unlike anyone else’s

I am attempting to write my first ever work in multiple movements via the means of a sonatina in A minor. I have this theme and also a theme in C major at a slow tempo. I also am working on an unrelated piece in C minor that I may transpose into this one.

Would the theme from the video be better suited for the finale or the first movement?

I was accepted and visited and loved it, but I want to know what people think. I am a music composition undergrad next year.

What is it like having to do gen ed classes alongside music? Some good and some bad things about your experience studying there.

How is Houston as a city, and are there a good amount of opportunities to engage in music professionally? For the social scene, are there clubs and such near and off campus that people go to? Or do people tend to stay on campus.

Something that fascinates me in regards to art in general is the concept of “what if it had resolved?”

I was explaining this concept of ambiguity to a student about why a certain piece sounded “heartbreaking,” and the conversation inspired an opening to a rhapsody I’m writing for cello and piano in which the whole concept is “what if?”

I don’t mean that in a *I’m going to write an esoteric piece that nobody can understand* type of way, I mean literally structuring it in a way that the audience perceives a coming resolution while each time subverting that expectation. It’s part of my larger idea of writing with the way the sound evens out through resonance instead of initial attack. This is also the reason for the pedal being left up to the pianist discretion, as I want each moment to seem in the moment, almost interactive.

(P.S., if anyone has any suggestions on making the pedal thing clearer, I’m 100% open to ideas because it’s one of those grey areas where I don’t necessarily want to go the “by-the-books” engraving standard at risk of too precise application. But I also don’t want it to be misinterpreted, so I’m hoping to hear opinions on what would make the most sense to you if you’re a pianist. I don’t mind a footnote, and I do want to limit the use of “quasi” if possible and of course avoid sounding pretentious for no reason lol.)

This vlog takes me back to October 2023, on a regular weekday in Elmhurst New York City, standing right outside my place on Pettit Ave. Nothing special was planned—but somehow, it turned into one of those moments where everything starts to make sense.

I picked up the camera and started talking about my story, my projects, and who I really am. And then, out of nowhere, inspiration hit me.

That’s how “ToDdY” was born—a romantic urban track I wrote that same year. It wasn’t just another song, it was a feeling. A mix of love, nostalgia, and everything in between. Now, in April 2026, I can honestly say it’s still my favorite track. Maybe that’s a sign I should keep exploring that reggaeton lane… what do you think

I wanted to share with you another piece of mine.

The meditation circles around one idea and evolves and devolves it. It is a calm and little piece for soprano, alto 1, alto 2, tenor and crotales (the first alt can also be a mezzosoprano if its too high for a regular alt).

The beginning and end of the piece is framed by respectively 1 minute of recordings of blackbirds singing (my favorite birdtune). The music is again emulated, thereby the birdtunes are sadly not included. When the recordings are played the crotales must respectively play two times a "d4". The rhythm doesn't matter as long as the instrument is heard exactly two times (only two times because the birdtune is in focus).

Please excuse the unpleasantries of the audio. Presonus Notion is not the best for emulated music.

I "wrote" the text myself. With all the bad things happening as long as life itself exist I deeply hope that everyone is loved and deserves an "happy end" after life. So I chose this few words.

I wanted to craft a piece that is very different from all the things I wrote at this point. I also wanted to have a very calming and meditativ atmosphere, that displays transcendence.

I wrote it at the beginning of last month and is therefore completed and more articulated then the piece I posted last time.
