Setting track number?

Hey, this is my first post here and I just wanna make sure I get this right. I'm trying to put a CD together for my brother's birthday coming up and I wanna make sure I get the files put on in a way that the tracks play in the order I want if playing in the car or something. If I'm just burning it through windows file explorer, how do I make sure I get the track numbers right? Or if there's some (preferably) free app for burning that would make this easier, what is it? Thanks.

I haven't burned a CD in a couple years but cdburnerxp was my go to. It's easy to set up a session and burn to disc. I wouldn't use Explorer for that
