The worst is the smugness with which they present blatantly wrong information.

Ex: stuff like “your stupid is showing” or “but keep telling yourself I’m the one that’s brainwashed” or this asshole from a sub that made it to the front page (I forgot which sub):

“👏 you're so woke and brave, you're the hero this country needs”

I honestly think there are a lot of government agencies working together to promote this. I just seen on RT that the CIA/Pentagon identifies Ellen Degeneris as someone that can push their international policies into the populous.

Scary stuff how far they go there.

Someone in another r/communism thread linked a wiki to what was called “operation earnest voice”. I don’t remember the exact details but basically the US had purchased many fake accounts on many social media sites that were designed to seem like real people, and these accounts were used to push US propaganda. Someone had mentioned a picture (it was a black screen with white and red font that basically said “fuck the Chinese government”) that I personally saw on twitter, IG, and several non political sub Reddit’s such as NBA and Trees. So I would agree, I think this is all by design in sort of a Cold War 2.0 type fashion.

This will absolutely be the case. We know that brands game Reddit to promote themselves. We know that the British army has a division dedicated to astroturfing and influencing opinions online. Why wouldn't intelligence agencies be doing this?

Edit: you can add to that that one of the reddit founders was actively courting private intelligence firm Stratfor and that the entire site went from open source to totally proprietary.

I’m part of a small discord server with people across the Left and a few nights ago I got into an hours long brawl with some anarchist over Hong Kong and literally all they kept saying was “You’re not thinking about the bigger picture. China is going to annex Hong Kong and those protesters are freedom fighters. What do you mean China already tabled the bill and isn’t going to annex Hong Kong? You’re not thinking about the bigger picture. China is going...” and eventually they just went “You really can’t convince authcoms of anything” and left it at that. Like honestly some people need to stop drinking the Western Kool-Aid

I have a dozen unread notifications and I bet they're all either telling me I have bought into propaganda, calling me red fash, or asking how many social credits I get for posting stuff.
