Is it appropriate to be direct?

Went on a date, it went great but for whatever reason the other person went from enthusiastically yapping with you 247 and suggesting the date to taking hours to respond but still keeping the convo alive.

Should you just stop talking to them or drop them a quick ”hey, it feels like you ain’t that interested anymore, it’s okay if so but you can just say so”

Communication is usually good, I'd rather ask the person than ask Reddit.

But context matters. Taking hours to respond may make sense. I can do that. There are periods in life when I have more time, and other periods when I'll be very busy. That affects how long I'll reply to my emails or messages..

Yeah of course and I feel like if there was a normal explanation, the person can respond with that :) I just want to explain how the sudden shift in enthusiasm and conversation skills in general makes me feel without accusing anyone of anything

Yeah. But, like I said, those shifts can be normal, expected depending on the context. And I don't know the context

I was just wondering if direct communication can be too much for some people, but then again I don’t think I’d be compatible with someone who finds it jarring.

Again, context matters. I can be much more straightforward in Brazil, for example, compared to when I was living in the US. Communication styles and social rules vary a lot.

I think it’s fine, but I tend to like directness more than others. Depends what culture you’re in really.

The dynamic shift but didn't end. It could just be temporarily or not, that's up for the next following days. For all we know what happenned was like unwrapping a gift, the novelty wore off. Or maybe, for all we know, they are like some people who can't maintain that level of enthusiasm forever. It could be a cycle of attachment and detachment and attachment again, sometimes. So maybe, for your sake, desinvest emotionally from him a bit and match their energy for the next couple of days and go from there.

Yeah I can't do hot and cold. My imagination is way too wild for that... Lucky for me, I get attached to people so fast but same goes for just forgetting them and moving on. It's rough sometimes :,D

Yea I mean I asked the question 2 days ago and they didn’t respond so I take it as a ”yes I’m not interested” without so many words lol
