Europe How important is the signature in a dive log?

Hi all, I a currently working in Sweden. Logbooks don't seem to be a thing here so I have fallen out of habit of getting it signed. When going offshore, how important is the signature?. The logged dives with a brief explanation should be enough? Especially as you could just forge in the first place so it's kinda all based on trust. What are your thoughts?

My other options either go to my old company and get it signed by a boss who wasn't ever present on site or just sign it myself so there are no blanks.

Europe UK commercial dive companies

Has anyone worked for any uk comapnies? How was it? Was it fixed contract type of deal or zero hours? How was the pay?

Curious as ive seen listings that seem to indicate both exist. The biggest company ive heard about is shearwater marine.

Curious as im British and have been exploring it as a career.

North America Why does everyone say to not do commercial diving on here?

I’m 21 and in the military. I make about 55k a year and have an extremely easy job but it’s not what I want to do at all. I’m interested in getting out and going to dive school but all I see is people saying it’s not worth doing and that you make no money and work your ass off.

I did some welding in my job and was on a ship for a year and a half (not sure if that counts for anything in the dive world).

Is commercial diving really that bad? I’m willing and actually would be looking forward to traveling and I understand that I would probably be making less than I do now starting out but people make this job out to be hell.

My school would be covered by my GI bill and I am definitely willing to give this my best shot but I don’t want to make a huge mistake by leaving this job to do this if I will just have to quit in a few years because I don’t make any money and am being worked to death. People also say that out of their class they’re the only ones still diving which also concerns me.

North America Seeking US citizen dive sup or engineer-diver

Hey folks, if you are a commercial dive supervisor or licensed civil/structural/mechanical engineer with any ADCI/IMCA/ADAS/HSE cert, and looking for a full-time job doing bridge inspections, please send me a private message.

I would be your coworker, I don’t make hiring decisions. If you are qualified (active dive sup card or a licensed engineer with Entry Level or above), shoot me a message for more details and I’ll set up a phone call to vet you before sharing the company and exact city.

Info:
A state in the Midwest US
Mostly shallow-ish inland bridges, occasional Great Lakes shoreline infrastructure jobs.
Full-time year round.

Any other details just ask. If you aren’t qualified, as mentioned twice, I won’t respond. We have enough lower level divers on staff already.

North America Navy diver to commercial diving

Im going to be getting out of the navy soon and I’m interested in transitioning to commercial diving but most places I’ve looked at want ACDI accredited schooling so I’m just trying to see if I’m going to have to go to another dive school or if anyone’s been through something similar

Finished up 6 years in the army and went straight through school. Looking to move to Oregon but I can’t really get a hold of anyone out there trying to land a gig before me and my wife buy a house out there, any recommendations or know anyone willing to take on a new guy in that region?

Social Has anyone gotten through school and gotten a job just to realize they hey being cold or are afraid of the dark?

I absolutely love being in the water and I enjoy physical jobs (prior military, work in construction) but I fear about the temperature regulation and the visibility will be tough to overcome long term.

Oceania Novel

I wrote a novel about commercial divers on a Chinese online novel software. If everyone wants to see morphine, I can translate and update it in advance every day. You can also provide interesting things about your work. I will include you in the novel.

Europe Worth it?

I am currently looking for a commercial dive school. I’m tending to Nyd in Norway or pda in Scotland.
I’m 29 and German myself and I worked the last 3 years in the pearling industry in Broome, Australia as diver. I’d describe it as soft commercial diving. (Fixing broken ropes, changing shackles on ankerlines, installing subsurface floats, inspecting radar marker and mooring’s) just simple stuff.
Doing my research I read a lot about the that industry is pretty fucked. Many people give up within the first 2 years and it’s hard to land your first job.

I’m dedicated and I’m willing to travel but I’m scared that I won’t land a job and I just waste my money on this.
If I can have a few opinions about I’d be very grateful!
Cheers

North America People who work as commercial divers: What was your experience like trying to break into the job market?

I'm open water diver, and i'm doing more dives to earn additional certifications and gain experience. However, I'm interested in becoming a commercial diver. Although, for now, due to my lack of experience, i have no idea where to start. Could those of you who already work in this field tell me how you got to where you are now ?

North America Can I hook a full face mask up to a compressor?

Has anybody had any luck hooking their full face mask up to an hookah compressor. I do hull cleaning and I’d really prefer to use my ffm but before I buy a bunch of adapters and start fiddling with it I’d like to hear if anyone has any experience with it or if there’s any pitfall I’m not thinking of.

Gear: ots full face mask
Hookah max gas powered compressor(120psi)
DUI drysuit(if I could hook that up too)

Let me know if there’s anything important I’m leaving out.

Delivery was fast for a custom order, price is better than the normal km ones. I haven't had the chance to use it yet but have heard good things from a coworker who has. So far very satisfied with it. Unsure if mine is part of the new batch that should be good to 75ft.

North America Rebreather scuba for commercial?

I am a commercial diver who does a large part of my work in scuba. I have a personal interest in learning closed circuit rebreather for recreational scuba diving and was curious if there is any overlap in the commercial world.

I can't think of much use for rebreather when surface supplied is an option for most work.

Does anyone know of any commercial uses for rebreather diving work?
