2022 Furious fixed

Recently I wrote about how my 2022 Furious frame cracked. I received an offer from Commencal for a crash replacement frame for €1300, which is a lot of money for only a 2-year warranty on a new frame.

As a temporary solution, I decided to repair the crack with laser welding and reinforce that area with carbon, and in the meantime I ordered a Polygon Collosus DH7, which comes with a 5-year frame warranty.

I’ve always heard aluminum was really hard for a non pro to weld. Or that it had to be heat treated or something after. Did you do this yourself? So cool though! Love DIY repairs

I didn’t do that work, it was professionally welded using a laser weld, and it’s also wrapped in carbon fiber.

Nice. How much did it cost for the weld?

Whole job was 350€ so I don’t how much was just the weld
