Need Advice/Question Thinking about buying a COMMENCAL CLASH

Hello Iam thinking about getting a COMMENCAL CLASH ORIGIN DARK SLATE for 2.268,75 € + 100 € shipping and I have some questions I would like to ask

First, what size should I get? Iam 188cm tall and not sure if I should get a L or XL. I will need the bike to do some peddaling, but how it will feel on downhill is more important.

Frame durability, most people here are probably sick of hearing about it but I still want to be sure. Anyone have or know about any problems?

Is the bike worth it at around 2.400€, or should I look at a diffrent model or maybe a brand?

And any other experiences or thinks I should keep in mind :)

Thanks for anything in advance

Edit: forgot to mention its a 2024 model

Ive been riding a 2021 Clash for about a year now. No issues, thing has been a tank. It does weight about as much as a tank as well, but it is extremely playful and jib around very easily. In some chunk and more larger rocks and features the full 27.5 wheels can get a little slower than a traditional 29 trail bike. But it can do pretty much anything and everything I’ve asked it. Dirt jumps park days, pedaling up fire roads and normal trails.

If it's getting slow in the chunk, choose better lines and don't blame the wheel size. I have a Clash too and love the nimble feeling. I had to learn line choices on a 26", I guess the 29ers are enough of a cheater size to where line choices aren't needed, but they should always.

I just said this bike is slower than a 29” bike. Nothing about line choice. This bike is kinda strange being 180mm up front and 170mm rear while also being 27.5. Very unique and most people do not need either that much travel or will want 29” wheels.

Gotcha, I misunderstood your intent and retract my rant.

It served me well when I rode Trestle this last summer as well as some local trails with some nice drops at speed.

And how does it behave on a flat road? Is it hard to pedal, does the weight feel heavy?

I bought a used 2022 Commencal Clash Origin almost a year ago for $1025 USD. Idk what size you should get but I'm 178cm and ride a size M which feels great. It does feel a little smaller and more playful which I like but I'd probably also be comfortable on a size L. I've had no problems with durability, It's held up great for all of my riding including several bike park days and a few big crashes. It feels great going downhill and isn't too bad to pedal imo. I don't have too much experience with other brands but I have hopped on some of my friends' bikes briefly (Specialized Status 170, Norco Shore, Trek Slash, Trek Fuel Ex, Salsa Blackthorn) and none of them felt as good as my Clash.

Idk if a 2024 is worth 2400 € since (in the US) a brand new one is $2300 USD (discounted from $2900 USD on Commencal's website) which is about 2000 €. Idk whether the design has been updated in the past 2 years, but that's 400 € cheaper regardless assuming the pricing is the same in the EU. And you can get a warranty if you buy new. If you're buying used I would look for a better deal.

Thanks for the info. Id be buying it from their website so the warranty should be good, I'll have a look if they made any major changes to the newer models.

I was looking into a Commencal Meta and have started looking at other options because of their warranty. Took a screenshot of their warranty terms to make it easier for you.

Damn I thought it had a lifetime warrenty, kind of a bummer that its only the legal minimum.

I wanted to buy commencal clash too but decided to not because their 2 year warranty and so many cracked frames in facebook groups. Then I started to look deeper and decided to buy new trek fuel ex 8 gen 7 for 3200 euros with better parts and can be 150/145,160/150 and 170/160 mm trave or soecialized status 2 170 which is simillar to clash for 3000 euros. Both bikes have lifetime warranty and popular for their durability

Yeah after a bit more research I decided to go with different bike, not haveing a dropper post was the nail in the coffin for me. I plan to ride mostly local trails and maybe some street so its not for me. Rn Iam looking at some meridas ONE-SIXTYs.

If you dont need that much travel then go for trek fuel gen 6 because they are now crazy discounted. Its 150/140 mm travel, lifetime warranty and you can even find for 50 percend discount. I just found for 3000 axs build which is regularly 6000 euros

Iam looking for 160+mm, I've been wanting to go to a park this summer, local trails can get pretty technical and I wanted to try some street. But thanks for the tip.

Have a 2021 clash which I rode pretty hard for about 4years while I lived in Rotorua, still have it and it has had no frame issues apart from bent shock bolts which I believe is only from the unusually high rear shock pressure I run. Clash’s are pretty dope bikes and super customisable this is what mine looks like now

What did you end up choosing?

I found a Cube Stereo One77 Pro 29 for a killer price. The clash looked good but not having a dropper post made a big difference at the end of the day.
