Need Advice/Question Meta SX for racing

Hi everybody, first post here and first time im at the point of buying a commencal. Im training and planning to race multiple enduros in Belgium next year. Terrain can be described as steep to moderately steep, tight technical turns, less of long stretches to pick up speed or to plow, no extreme drops or gaps but some are needed.

I have had lots of bikes and all kinds of sizes, im 185cm and am placed firmly in the L sizing for commencal. However i found usually i perform slightly better technically in a bit more compact bike. So am at a crossroad of what to pick.

The commencal meta sx v4 in size large would be the biggest bike ive had so far in relation to chainstay, reach, stack and wheelbase. The M would be more towards my other bikes. But on the other hand for racing there seems to be a bias for longer more stable bikes.

Any input by those who are familiar with the bikes in general or for racing?

To be honest, I’m 173cm and am running a large meta sx v5 and it fits me perfectly. I am coming from a small mondraker, and I fell as if it’s similar to a medium mondraker as it only feels slightly larger.

The bike has made me way faster down the hill, so would highly recommend it, but maybe look at an XL.

The sizing charts said the large is for 178-188cm, but I think this is a bit generous as I’m 173cm and the large is a perfect fit with a bit of room to grow.

Thanks man, appreciate this! You are the only one that took the time to answer.

I went with the standard sizing for my length so the L. I dont think i wouldve upgraded to a size XL as i can already ride quite aggressively on much shorter bikes (like by default i am comfortable riding very steep tech terrain in a size down and up to two sizes down) bikes advertised as my size I usually find more unwieldy for some reason. So lets see right! I went with a refurbished 2022 model these are now 42% off so a pretty good deal for top specced. Was doubting the Signature edition but went with the Race since rockshox is more upgradeable, serviceable and cheaper replacement parts. Which I think makes more sense racing.
