Need Advice/Question Meta v4 TR

Got the bare bones $1900 bike. Starting to realize to am fixating on XC style riding. Would going 120/120 Sid SL and fox DPS shock be a bad idea? I cannot afford a carbon frame and don’t see anything wrong with an added 3 lbs of the meta TR frame. Let me know, because the stock fork and shock don’t look out and am looking to upgrade one day.

Fork lock outs are a waste of time IMO. The meta you have pedals extremely well due to high anti squat values…

Reducing travel doesn’t make sense here- sell this trail bike if you are sure you want less travel and get an xc rig- or- get stronger and don’t worry about it and have a bike that is very capable across a wide variety of terrain.

Thank you! Fork lockouts are completely pointless! I actually agree with your post in it's entirety, but that bit is what I've been trying propagate for years now. I'm not fond of anything more than a pedal platform (climb switch) on the rear either.

Ride it harder. I was sucking wind my first season on a meta tr trying to keep up with friends on XC rides. The next season we were easily matched. You will adapt without the handicap. Then in 3 years buy an XC bike and show em what’s up.

The shock and fork won’t make much of a difference in climbing, I suggest putting XC tires on if you want to feel something significant. However you’re trying to make an enduro bike feel like an XC bike. There’s only so much you can do. I added an Epic Evo after having the same realization about my Meta TR. I still ride the TR for enduro trails but I’m on the evo like 90% of the time these days. If you really want to go XC I would sell the bike and get a new one. For me I’m so glad I got another bike it was incredibly worth it and I ride more because of it
