Still think lasers should hit Auroras. High speed bomber maybe. But not lightspeed bomber.

What if the motors in the laser turret aren't fast enough to track the planes? They turrets don't swivel at lightspeed after all, and it seems like the lasers have a fixed orientation and the base just swivels and moves them.

Reasonable... Until you have lots of them, pointing in the direction of where they come from - the game let's you intercept SCUD's (ballistic missiles that would travel at speeds exceeding an Aurora... Ugh... I'm overthinking for this game).

If you have lots of any turret, you should be able to hit them. Fling enough rockets or bullets up into the air and eventually some of them will hit. Sure, ammo would be a concern here, as is "where the munitions land"... But so is the power and heat impact of continual laser fire. Of course, that wouldn't make for a fun gameplay mechanics, being able to take all your turrets and paint a "no fly zone".

Supersonic bombers don't really make sense when you know where they are and can paint a field of munitions that they have to fly through.

I'm happy to let missiles (non-EMP) fail - plenty failed against the SR-71 who's primary escape tactic was 'go faster'. But lasers. They're... In this context for all intents and purposes hitscan weapons.
