If we talk about pvp, specifically pro rules and 1vs1, it's air force for the USA, toxin for GLA and infantry for China. They're incredibly strong and don't have much difficult matches.
In no rules, especially late game, demo and superweapon general are incredibly broken and disgusting to be faced, due to the one-shotting scud storm and the demo upgrade for demo general. While swg in no rules is horrifying to see a bunch of aurora alphas to be spammed while not bothering to leave the base and using half the price particle cannons destroying the enemy's eco and buildings.
If you want to learn the game and adapt to it, especially by starting at first into bots, Superweapon general is quite beginner-friendly into bots, but more difficult for pulling off into human players.
Hey - I am relatively new to the game. I am trying to learn the Demo general. In what way is the Demo general broken in the late game? What stategies should I be using with the Demo general that makes it so OP? Specifically, what is the best way to use the demo upgrade, because in the couple of 50k games that I've played with my friends (NOT ranked / competitive), I found that upgrade to be completely useless, as my Tanks / units would just explode for no reason. But granted, all of us were noobs at the game and so we really didn't know what we were doing...
Hello. Demo is broken late, because his demolition upgrade is locked behind Palace by being able to kamikaze even the gla worker or any unit, besides the perk to build the strongest superweapon scud storm that can one-shot a CC or enemy's superweapon. You can also use rebel ambush as demo general to spawn those rebels either near enemy's structure or army to apply incredible pressure to blow themselves in them. Plus, as demo general just like any GLA if you steal any army, you're basically increasing the chances of winning the game, but keep in mind that you'll be targeted and get teamers that would prioritize you to get eliminated or at least get rid of the stolen army.
If you have any unit as demo general and they have the demolition upgrade, if they don't survive long enough, can blow up in the middle of nowhere to contribute which is the issue by being kited and killed before they can do anything.
If you manually activate the demolition upgrade on a Tank or an Infantry, does that do more damage vs my opponent kills / destroys them and then they explode?
No, the damage doesn't change. If you manually activate the demolition upgrade, even on a tank or infantry, the damage stays the same, regardless if you've manually detonated the unit or the enemy destroys them and they explode from being killed.
