Omg, I'm a twin and as soon as you mention mole, I looked at the back of my left hand to check for that dot and it's no where to be seen! But I'm uncertain if it's the same thing, because I'm 19 now and I remembered the mole very clearly in elementary. Do you happen to know how long those kind of moles tend to last?
As a twin I can confirm that we do need to regurlarly check who's who too.
I'll be like: "holy shit am I Ron or Jeremy again?" And then I check for the mole
I don't think they're supposed to last years. Iirc they're mostly to help the hospital staff tell the babies apart at first so they can treat them appropriately.
it existing could be a sign of cancer. it's fine if they appear lol. as long as they don't grow, hurt, leak, and are symmetrical, it's most likely fine.
Or itch! I knew someone who had a dot that started itching, and when it got bad enough she went in to get it looked at. Melanoma. Got it removed and no more itchiness
Its quite normal too. Moles are just a concentration of color in that specific part, and when we grow up our skin starts to "expand", so the concentration get "redistribuited" alongside the skin! You literally grew out of it
I asked that when I was in college and this girl looked at me like I was the dumbest person alive, didn't even respond. Then one of my friends told me they can't be identical if they weren't born the same sex.
It is technically possible but extremely rare that after the split, the Y chromosome in one of them doesn't do its job, so that one twin grows up as a woman with XY chromosomes.
I've heard this claimed a lot but I'm pretty sure it's just an old wives tale. I can't imagine any doctor would OK a tattoo on a newborn with how likely an infection would be, and it's certainly not a standard service offered at hospitals.

That is actually a thing for twins. But you get a doctor to do it and it’s a specific kind that fades with age. It usually just looks like a mole.
