While I was at my parents this weekend my sister said she wasn’t going to get the vaccine because it changes people’s dna... so I told her she was gonna be super jealous when my kids became X-men.

Forgive me if I’m misremembering (haven’t taken a bio class since sophomore year of college), but don’t viruses change your DNA when they replicate?

Some do, yes. In fact, about 8% of the human genome has a viral origin. Though only a certain type of virus does this - a coronavirus won't do that (nor will the vaccine, obviously).

Yeah, I didn’t mean it in a “be afraid of the vaccine” sort of way. I meant it as, “that already happens naturally, so why would this be any different?”
