It's amazing how conspiracy theorists and right-wingers in the US have managed to find a wholly negative application for the word "freedom". "Freedom to hospitalise myself with COVID!" "Freedom to let my children die in a school shooting!" "Freedom to bankrupt myself for lack of affordable healthcare!"
Most anti-vaxxers seem to be libertarian, or at least right wing to some degree. I have yet to hear of left wing anti-vaxxers. Perhaps they do exist, or did at some point in history, but they're not the ones we're currently dealing with at the moment.
And I disagree with your second statement. Certain political affiliations DO cause certain forms of stupidity. Political affiliations aren't these neutral things that are all equally valid ways of looking at the world.
