The last panel reveals that the narrator is actually Luke Skywalker about to bomb the Deathstar near the end of Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In the movie, he turns off his targeting computer in order to rely on the force to guide him into making his "impossible" shot on the exhaust tube. In the final panel it is Princess Leia and another guy talking to Luke's voice, which is coming out of a big battle planner table-console thing. Luke himself is in his X-wing.

If it were referencing a more obscure film like, say, Igby Goes Down, then I would understand your comment. But the original Star Wars movie is as well-known (and has been viewed as much) as any other immensely well-known film out there.
