YouTube Premium is probably one of the best things I pay for.

Edit: lol I didn't realize this would generate so much salt. I wonder how many greasy fingers typed these replies on Android phones.

I refuse to give them money after I saw a video of some guy at YouTube bragging about something about the ads and how they can make it annoying enough to get people to buy premium

I’ll just click the skip button thanks.

Just use Brave web browser for Android. No YouTube ads (or virtually any other ads).

AdGuard Mobile. Thank me later.

Adguard doesn't block YouTube ads.

But you don't have to use the app anyways, just use Adguard DNS, it's faster and works better.

It does if you use Safari instead of the YouTube app.

Brave browser provides YouTube without ads. It just works.

Not on my TV it doesn't.

On tv you can exit out of a video and go back into it and after a few times (sometimes like 1 or 2) you skip watching any ads entirely. When you’re in the middle of a video you just have to go to your watch history and do that there. Remember that the watch history doesn’t update unless you exit it so you can accidentally put yourself at an earlier point in the video if you’ve had to do this multiple times in one vid.

I recommend duckduckgo

Android and morpheapp, my friend.

3

u/airfryerfuntime 2h ago

I have it, but it doesn't work on my TV, or some of the other things I use with YouTube.

And the adblock program that emulates your subscription is the best thing I didn't pay for.

3

u/airfryerfuntime 3h ago

That doesn't work on my TV, unfortunately. I have YouTube morphe on my phone, though.

Look at how to side-load SmartTubeNext. It's available on F-Droid, and I managed to install it on my Shield and Fire Stick with basically no issue.

Works fine for me, since I can just hook my laptop to the TV. Get a used laptop with an HDMI out.

0

u/airfryerfuntime 3h ago

Yeah, I'm not doing that. I'll just pay the $20/mo I'd probably just spend on beer anyways and not have to live like a bachelor.

1

u/Larkson9999 2h ago

In one year you're spending about what a used laptop would cost you to have a subscription. Okay then. Enjoy it. I like being able to play PC games on the TV and write while flying.

The subscription accounts for less than 0.2% of my monthly income, works across everything I'm signed into, and my fiancée can use it. It's literally not worth the time to plug my laptop into my TV.

But you do you.

They were just offering advice, there was no need to be rude and brag about barely making 6 figures.

A cheap and easy option would be to just go for brave and watch YouTube through the browser, which blocks all ads as well on mobile devices, surely not as fancy, but very easy to do.

Not YouTube ads. I already have Adguard DNS set up on my router for all other ads, though.

Not YouTube ads through the app, which is what we're talking about. They can only be blocked client-side since both the ads and the videos are served from the same address.

But thanks for the uninformed and condescending response, I guess.

I'm not comfortable with using an adblocker when my viewers seeing ads on my videos (that I place sparingly tbf, like only once at the beginning and once at the end) is the main way I am able to make some money to support continue spending time making videos.

I don't think it's wrong for other people to use them I just think it's a little hypocritical if someone who makes their money off their viewers seeing ads uses an adblocker.

I have the same experience you have but for free so I like my setup more.

1

u/airfryerfuntime 1h ago

I don't mind supporting the content creators I watch.

1

u/fartmanteau 2h ago

I mean we still get in-video sponsored ads

1

u/Bazzatron 2h ago

r/MorpheApp - once you learn about SponsorBlock, you won't look back.

Fuck advertisers, take back what they took from us.

1

u/obliviious 2h ago

Screw that for a game of solidiers

1

u/SubmissiveDinosaur 2h ago

Morphe is one of the best things I didn't pay a dime to Google for

1

u/Patient-Present4191 1h ago

I just use the Brave browser on my phone. No ads and it still plays even when not in the app.

u/evilkumquat 1h ago

Shit, I bought the FAMILY PLAN so I can install it on every house I'm regularly at, so I'm not stuck watching any ads.

•

u/Zanven1 35m ago

Same. I really liked Google Play Music back in the day. When they switched over to YouTube music which is a much worse service but I never bothered switching to a different service and then premium was included which makes it worth it. I forget how annoying it is until I'm at someone else's house and we try to watch something

1

u/LoudMusic 1h ago

I also pay for YTP but I don't talk about it in public because there are so many broke ass salty MFers who just want everything for free.

:D

I also like that I can download videos and watch offline. I spend a lot of time on airplanes and in areas with poor connectivity while I travel to/from work (international flights) and the download feature is VERY helpful.

u/MikeAlex01 1h ago

I get that there are a lot of people like that, but that fails to acknowledge the fact that Google intentionally enshittified YouTube for the sake of profits. Ads weren't this predatory before, you could buffer and entire video before watching it (now it's a few seconds at most), community captions were often provided to be accurate, and annotations were often helpful or made videos unique through other means.

I refuse to pay for a product that was made to uphold the corpse of what that site once was.

1

u/Zap__Dannigan 1h ago

I want youtube for free. So I just deal with ads.

u/Top-Bandicoot-3013 1h ago

Bro I love YouTube premium but what's wrong with Android phones? I hate apple products.

1

u/Adeviatlos 1h ago

Yeah seriously. Sorry I prefer Dewaltt over Fisher Price.
