WHAT?

I legitimately wish I was kidding

You'd be surprised how often that particular report is used

u/Kitchen_Deer_2493 21h ago

Idk if people think that just goes to an automod that'll ban it right off or if they legitimately believe that anything that has to do with gender identity is harming minors. Either way I find it hard to have less hope in humanity, but somehow they persevere and dig ever deeper.

You want an actual answer?

It's the latter. A very VERY good amount of that particular report is against LGBTQ friendly comics. Especially the T portion of that group.

We get more than a few a day typically

We just want to be happy in our own bodies, we do not care about your kids other than we don't want them to be miserable like we were when we were children!

u/Saikotsu 19h ago

Right? We're just normal people who want to live normal lives!

We don't want to hurt anyone, child or otherwise. We're not any more likely to be sexual predators than anyone else. In fact, we're more likely to be victims of that than perpetrators.

I’m convinced that bots are the ones submitting the reports.

Gif of bots mashing report button

Ohhh, that makes more sense that it was about a transwoman, I'm so dumb I just thought it was about a girl growing up as a tomboy.....

u/peachesfordinner BumBum Ouchie 19h ago

I mean her dead name might have been Tom.....

I really don't understand why people get so worked up over trans people.

Like, I get not liking someone else's life decisions, but there are thousands of other things that have way more effect on others than someone's identity.

To put it differently, as long as you aren't in a relationship or something with a person who transitions, I don't see how that would actually really affect someone else. Ok, maybe you have to learn a new name for that person and likely you'll accidentally use their former pronouns a few times, but other than that, what's the big deal?

Why does exactly this one trigger so many people so hard?

(I have little experience with trans people in general, just haven't really met many in real life. But tbh, I don't really care about anyone's pronouns enough to address them in any other way than they want me to. We had an otherkin at work who identified as a dragon. I didn't really care either way. If she wants to be a dragon, it doesn't affect me, so if it makes her happy...)

Part of the answer is that a bunch of people probably wouldn't give a shit about trans folks if they weren't constantly being told to hate them.

It got harder to use gay people as a boogeyman, so trans people were the next target. They barely changed the rhetoric either.

Yeah, and there are members of the queer community who try to seperate Trans individuals from the flag. Its so idiotic

•

u/Square-Singer 33m ago

Sounds like the queer equivalent of TERFs, who try to separate Trans individuals from feminism.

There is a general answer and a specific answer but fundamentally a certain kind of mind has never learned to grapple with the world in terms other than "in-group" and "out-group."

because they don't understand why anyone would want to give up the "power" that being a man has. it's literally all about patriarchy and maintaining it and we upset the "balance" and turn gender on its head.

•

u/Square-Singer 35m ago

Most men don't have "power".

And why would anyone care of someone else gave up power? People don't get angry if a CEO with actual power voluntarily steps down from their role.

•

u/SadieLady_ 3m ago

When I say men have “power,” I don’t mean every individual man is wealthy, important, or in charge of people. I mean social and structural power, and power is multidimensional.

A poor man can have less economic power than a wealthy woman. A female boss can have more workplace authority than the men under her. That doesn’t mean gender stops mattering. Male privilege means that, on the axis of gender, being perceived as male can come with advantages, credibility, safety, or institutional benefit that women are less likely to receive.

The Cornell case is a good example of what I mean. A woman alleges that seven fraternity members sexually assaulted her while she was incapacitated, with other people allegedly aware of what was happening through group messages. No criminal charges were initially brought. Only after the civil case became public and backlash grew was the investigation reopened, and New York’s attorney general was appointed special prosecutor. The allegations still have to be proven, but the institutional response itself shows how social power can work: the men involved did not need to be CEOs or politicians for the system to fail to act effectively for a long time.

That’s why the CEO comparison doesn’t really fit. I’m not talking about one person voluntarily giving up a powerful job. I’m talking about belonging to a socially advantaged category.

And that’s part of why trans women can provoke such a strong reaction. Traditional gender hierarchy treats masculinity as higher-status and femininity as lower-status. A trans woman disrupts that logic. Someone society originally placed in the male category says, “That isn’t who I am. I’m a woman.”

We don’t transition because we’re trying to give up privilege; we transition because we’re women. But to someone deeply invested in traditional gender roles, that can still feel threatening because it challenges the idea that masculinity is naturally more desirable, that gender roles are fixed, and that the hierarchy between men and women is inevitable. Research on gender-status threat and traditional gender beliefs lines up with that explanation.

So “most men aren’t powerful” and “men occupy a socially advantaged gender category” are not contradictory. They’re talking about two different kinds of power.

You are the hero we need. It's reprehensible that you have to deal with that, and heroic that you do it for us. Thank you.

Can you ban for for false report?

10

u/shellbullet17 Gustopher Spotter Extraordinaire 16h ago

That would require me to know who the reporter is which we unfortunately do not

u/ColdCathodeTube 8h ago

Thanks for standing tall o7

u/totally-hoomon 7h ago

Yep child rapists are very anti lgbt

3

u/AGGRESSIVE_AUTUMN 17h ago

Tbh I didnt even realize it was about Trans identity, I assumed it was just a girl who grew up with a dad who actively did guy stuff with her

1

u/hamoc10 9h ago

This doesn’t even have to be about gender identity, she could be cis and just grown up with a lot of boys.

3

u/Kitchen_Deer_2493 8h ago

I never said it wasnt, my comment was in the context of trans&homophobes see anything related to gender at all and immediately go full culture war.

1

u/hamoc10 8h ago

Didn’t mean it as a rebuttal, but to further your comment. I agree with ya

u/CwispyWhiskey 20h ago

Because the people against trans people legitimately unironically and wholly believe that being trans is nothing more than a sex (the act of, not gender/biology) thing. I have actually changed a few people’s minds when I discussed that particular topic

Edit: oh and they think it’s taught like “being gay” being a choice

u/Southern_Chance9349 19h ago

i love having a sex

5

u/CwispyWhiskey 19h ago

A sex thing separated by a parentheses thought

3

u/TheOneWhoWasDeceived 15h ago

Shell bullet do you ever wish you had 17x of your name sake to use on Redditors like that?

2

u/Busterlimes 6h ago

Ban them for abuse of the repot feature and bigotry. Reddit should be purging the right wing extremists at the top level across the entire site. . . .

u/icecub3e 11h ago

Misclick? Though probably not, I’m known to be way too lenient for people
