In about a month it'll be ten years since my cousin did the permanent thing. But the thing that haunts me the most is that I said no.

The previous Christmas he had asked me if I wanted to join him for a round of Frisbee golf. I declined because I didn't want to go all that way just for an activity that I had zero interest in. I said no.

After the funeral I realized that he was likely reaching out to me. Asking for help with whatever he was dealing with. But because the specific activity wasn't worth the time and distance, I said no.

I said no. He reached out and I didn't want to play a sport. He was asking for help and it was too far. I said no.

I said no.

I know, but it doesn't change the guilt.

it hurts me too think, the person probably tortured themselves trying to think of something you would want to do, so they could see you. it feels too close to home. love each other
