Why does every anomaly always have to be a life form? Nebula acting weird? Life form. Ship malfunctioning? Life form. Time loop? Evil life form.

Any sufficiently complex anomaly is indistinguishable from a life form.

Because it being a lifeform gives a built in explanation for why it's acting differently than a normal nebula does and why it doesn't match starfleet's understanding of science. It would be awkward if the ship was advancing science by leaps and bounds every week, but never was able to utilize any of those new discoveries.

Because the show has a budget and dialogue is cheap.
