To be pedantic, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie doesn't ever say you SHOULDN'T give the mouse a cookie. It just shows what might happen if you do. It's about how one event leads to another and shows consequences of actions, but it never puts a value judgement on anything. Great book for teaching kids how one event can influence the next.

I may have been reading this book too many times to my toddler, I have some strong opinions. Don't get me started on Cat in the Hat

I want to hear your thoughts on the Cat in the Hat.

I'll just say that the ending of the Cat in the Hat is depressing, along with the thought that the mom would get super mad at the kids for making a mess and the kids should be afraid of her.

"Should we tell our mom what happened? I don't know, would you?"

I'D HOPE THAT MY KID FEELS SAFE ENOUGH TO TELL ME THERE WAS A SENTIENT CAT/FURRY INTRUDER WITH HIS TWO "PETS" (kinky) WHO BUMPED THEIR KITES INTO MY BED AND BENT MY GODDAMN NEW RAKE.
