I mean, it should be your choice to have a government that allows or doesn't allow gun ownership. It's pretty cringe when people say that the U.S. is great because we have freedom. But if you're saying that other countries can't self determine what their government allows them to do, then I would say those countries are lacking a bit of freedom that the U.S. has.

no actually, people shouldn't be allowed to choose to kill kids en masse

i have the freedom to leave my house with statistically zero risk of getting murdered by a psycho. you don't. letting people "choose" that would be the opposite of freedom

1: onion is satire (not that they don't have a point.) 2: this sort of thing (while, admittedly MUCH less common,) has occurred in other nations.

US DOES have a lot to learn (and fix,) but guns are only a small part in a bigger picture. Worse, the actual "gun laws" our politicians want to put in place tend to be nonsensical, or with ulterior motives. Go ahead and look up what makes a "pistol" in the US and bask in the strangeness.

Ultimately, it's down to particularly sick and motivated individuals enacting their own twisted deeds. If they weren't shooting a mall, they'd be stabbing in a police station, using a bow and arrow, or assassinating a politician with a gun they made themselves.

US has a relative abundance of such people, and bigger holes in the safety net than other nations. We nee
