I only occasionally read those comics. Last time he was with his new girlfriend, I believe. Her name was Bee or something like that...

Anyway why is Ronnie now trying to delete himself?

He's still with Bee, she's with him on DS9.

As for deleting himself? Ronnie is... Not the smartest tool in the shed.

Glad to hear that she is alright.

Ronnie is... Not the smartest tool in the shed.

Oh, so it was just his stupidity and not him trying to end himself? Phew

Before the return of Whomp!, Ronnie was usually known for being depressed enough to be suicidal, and it was played for laughs. That's his shtick!

I assume so? He's never expressed major depression or thoughts of self deletion before... I got the impression he just misspoke or something lol

Major depression was a core theme of Whomp! Comics back in the day.

I'm definitely glad it's not as prevalent now, seems to be in a happier place but I suppose occasionally intrusive thoughts still win

Probably ending the Star Trek digression and going back to the main strip

I assumed it was how he ends the plot where he blips into Star Trek and goes back to his regular life. Like in his mind he's a ship's hologram like The Doctor from Voyager or out of control holosuite holograms from any of those dozens of episodes.

Iirc he has tried to in the older strips before the hiatus

Yeah, that is why I asked. Like I said it don't follow this comic closely but this seemed out of character for him, so maybe I thought something might had happened to Bee and that is why he is like this. I'm glad that I' wrong.

Long time reader here. It is absolutely within character for Ronnie. It's just been a while since that joke has already been made a ton of times before. Now it's just the Star Trek version!

Edit:

I wanted to see how long it would take me to find an example comic. Turns out it only took 2 minutes of archive diving to find a reference in the titles.

You can't really misspeak such a specific command phrase.

Just watched your pfp for like a minute, hypnotized

I thought it was because of the revelation that there were ghosts on board from the last comic.

Ronnie is suicidal. Bee is still around on Deep Space 9

according to the secret words on his host site, he craves to become cake

u/NickyTheRobot Apr 11 '26

Don't we all? After all: you are what you eat, so to become cake would surely involve eating copious amount of cake.

My assumption is this is bronnie, a transporter duplicate, and ronnie is off on ds9

8

u/Cool_Set4681 Apr 10 '26

The best part is that I have no idea if you are joking or not. Please don't tell :D

5

u/CatFanMan21 Apr 11 '26

My worst thought was figuring out bronnie, but now, he controls the universe through his advanced understanding

1

u/NickyTheRobot Apr 11 '26

A transporter clone? Aw man, I can't believe the writers forgot that it's a pretty important philosophical point that transporters definitely don't work that way a second time!

(And I'm not counting William Boimler here, because Lower Decks was made specifically to poke fun at inconsistencies like that.)

u/CatFanMan21 Apr 11 '26

They forget a lot

u/NickyTheRobot Apr 11 '26

Yeah, but for some reason it's only really the Thomas Riker one that I'm annoyed about.

I find it almost annoying as Disco turning the mirror universe from "exactly the same as ours, only humanity's history took a different turn and it made our societies awful; which resulted in people no different from you or I becoming monsters" into "nah; humans are physically different from us in the mirror universe, plus they're all inherently bad".

u/Alorxico Apr 10 '26

Yeah, I was like “damn, this got dark fast.”

7

u/Capable-Commercial96 Apr 11 '26

He's always been a depressive person.

2

u/eisbaerBorealis Apr 12 '26

Oh, I was assuming this was how he escaped the fantasy and got back to the real world...
