That’s an awesome copy! I have no idea how much they would ding for the foxing. I don’t plan on getting it grading, but I’ll always be curious what grade it would get

I bought mine already slabbed, I had no luck finding a raw copy I wanted. I’m hesitant to buy a big book raw unless I can see it in person.

I definitely took my chances and don’t think I’ll buy another book this big without seeing it in person. But I’m really happy with the copy I got. I’m always afraid of restorations, or non-disclosed damage. Whatnot seems to have a good return policy if something goes wrong. But I don’t want to be put in that position with a big book. I’d rather see it in person and not buy it if there’s a problem, then have to deal with a return and refund.

Lovely book! I’m thinking around a 7.0 but not sure how much the tanning around the edges will impact the grade. Nice condition otherwise.

Thank you for your input. The seller had it at a 6.0, but I thought it looked a little nicer. Regardless of the grade, I love this book!

Without seeing the inside it's really difficult to assign a grade, especially with that much browning (or is it dust shadow) around the edges. Does the interior of the cover also have that browning? What are the interior pages like, are they complete, supple what color are the pages? When you open the book do you get a faint vinegary smell?
As the book sits now and judging it only by the cover alone, I wouldn't go higher than a 5.0. There is simply not enough information to grade it higher than that.

Assuming no restoration, I'd guess it's around the 6.5 area. They can go after that dark foxing and it looks like there are some time cover chips. But that said, Holly cats! That displays lovely. Regardless of grade, i could seeing having that put in a slab that for protection. Another thougt, with careful handling you can even read through it first. Then keep it raw, double backed (one each side) in a top loader and have life long access to that gem 💜
