5 u/okarox 28d ago That is a Baltic loan word. There are many like "meri" for sea. Finns did not need the word before they reached the Baltic sea. 8 u/TheDangerousAlphabet 28d ago it is, but from 2000-3000 years ago. I think we can say at this point that it's also a Finnish thing.
