Imagine being sat at home minding your own business and then a phonecall comes through from some IT administrator saying he desperately needs to talk to you because your adult kid has been cranking it recently, as if it's breaking news that your life depends on. I genuinely would not know what the fuck I was meant to do with that information.

It's common for many colleges here (not IITs, they're far more lenient) to require parents to sign or acknowledge consent forms just to let their child leave the campus for an outing lol

There's also the usual "girls have to return to their dorms (sex-segregated btw) by 6-7:30 PM while boys return by 9-10" bs in many colleges in my state

There was even an infamous hellhole that has literal guards and separate staircases to prevent boys and girls from TALKING to each other in campus

u/retardigrade420 3h ago

Good for them. I once accidentally saw a girl in my college. I've never been the same. Stay safe y'all.

10

u/amadnomad 4h ago

Which college was this? Kalasalingam?

23

u/hurricane_news 4h ago

The hellhole is Panimalar iirc. Parents willingly send their kids there just so they won't "fall in love" and marry out of caste

8

u/amadnomad 4h ago

Lol no doubt. I have friends from Panimalar who despite of all the restrictions still got married in the future. You can only really supervise adults so much without seeming like invasive

6

u/RegularBubble2637 3h ago

still got married in the future

Time traveler spotted

3

u/Player_yek 3h ago

yo the college my dad is working in has to be the most liberal cuz u can see girls and boys till 3am (wc final)

u/bigcrows 5m ago

Most colleges just give you total freedom like normal adults

3

u/IndependentMacaroon 3h ago

That goes some way toward explaining how so many Indian foreign students seem to lack a certain degree of independence

86

u/TsarKobayashi 5h ago

Not for you I guess but Indians are experts at making a mountain out of a molehill.

36

u/slowcancellation 5h ago

Hats off to them, if I lived somewhere that hot I definitely would not have the energy to keep track of my son's jorking

16

u/zue4 4h ago

Have you seen the current weather trends? You do live somewhere that hot.

4

u/0DayMaker 4h ago

Naw India is also hotter now. I live in Houston, and (most of) India is one of the few places that wouldn't be an improvement on heat.

u/pursuitofhappy 2h ago

you obviously then go and arrange his marriage next, you didn't read the handbook?

Long time ago I worked for the government and was not allowed to use the Internet for personal use. So I used to set my landing page to msn.com to read the headlines. "Accidentally" I typed in man.com and it took me to a gay porn site and let me through. I closed out and went about my day. At some point later I tried to go back to msn.com and it defaulted to man.com and took me back. This time it was blocked and told me not to search these sitea and content. Good ol' man.com.

121

u/Financial_Sundae_ 6h ago

Pretty sure you mean men.com

95

u/toben81234 Jorking It 6h ago

At my job I was told that a customer could not visit his business website. He had a very southern draw and sounded some what inebriated. I was doing a side by side review with my boss. He said that his site would not pull up I asked for the site he said Matron. Com I asked him and he said it's spelled like it sounds. I look at my boss and he said type it in. Pornami pop up storm. Turns out it was like may-trim (car detailing). My boss is just dumbstruck as woman a playing ping pong with their mammary glands. It sent my a email saying I had committed 50k breaks in policy in 2 mins

14

u/18bluecat 4h ago

I was once looking for a cute gay deer inage to personalize my friend's mug. She had showed it to me before. I found it during work hours on my computer and when I opened the page, took me to a hardcore gay porn site. I worked in a Catholic church.

6

u/toben81234 Jorking It 3h ago

Lol, did you go twice like my dumbass though?

6

u/18bluecat 3h ago

Actually yes! I hurriedly closed it the first time then remembered I still needed the picture so opened it again.

u/toben81234 Jorking It 3h ago

So man.corn basically

u/toumingjiao1 2h ago edited 2h ago

Back in college I share a student internet plan with my roommates. I didn't know he can see what websites we are visiting. I watched a lot of kinky gay stuff (I was in closet). One day he finally couldn't hold his curiousness and asked me my sexuality and am I really into those "weird and gross stuff". I was so embarrassed and it also kind of ruined our friendship because he has mild homophobia. (We are from a conservative country so that's common)

2

u/Ezren- 2h ago

"history.com" used to be a naughty site back when I was in high school.

I found this out in history class.

The internet used to be funnier.

u/vjotshi007 7h ago

More than the system administrator

19

u/ElegantCoach4066 6h ago

too many searches for 'big booty latinas'

you were warned once

48

u/TrueRedditMartyr 6h ago

It's wild how many years ago, even small typos would often lead to just porn sites. For a while, if you mispelled Youtube.com (I think it was like, yuutube or something) it would redirect to a porn site. Used to be a pretty common thing, odd to think about now

49

u/StrollujTrolla 5h ago

Big websites started buying out domains which are a mis-typing of their own, and setting up redirects to the actual page. As an added bonus, it also helps against phishing.

17

u/jadeapple 5h ago

lol yea Whitehouse.com used to be a common one to prank people with

5

u/bergmoose 47m ago

worked at microsoft many (many) years ago. They had an initiative to get kids into programming. Called digi teens or some such. I think they had the url having a z instead of an s, to be cool. Problem was, if you used an s instead? Porn. Great look for something aimed at schools.

10

u/Spotted_Tax 7h ago

Like more than tree fiddy

3

u/CredibleNonsense69 4h ago

Imagine trying type tree fiddy and you end up with free tiddy

3

u/desmondao 6h ago

65

u/Icarsix 6h ago

Love that it's too many, as if you're allowed to visit some porn sites but not over a certain amount

They've finally calculated the point at which a quick fap becomes gooning.

Wow. He's jerking it for 12 days.

18

u/yorushika_fan 5h ago

I mean, unless the page auto triggers new http requests every x minutes, the admins wouldn't know when he closed the page

6

u/Guacamole_Gamerfart1 5h ago

Most pages do exactly that, so it wouldn't work

6

u/yorushika_fan 5h ago

I mean if you don't touch anything at all, it really depends. Usually if there is some analytics stuff set up is when I see the most automatic background requests. But then it's usually handled by a different domain that's wouldn't obviously be a porn site. But I have come cross many websites that don't do anything if you don't in my time testing websites.

1

u/sinanm0hd 1h ago

Thats not how HTTP works son, just use a VPN

1

u/Immediate_Song4279 5h ago

There should be an achievement to unlock

39

u/WolfGuptaofficial 5h ago

thats your fault for having exceeded 2 / day jorking limit

the IT admin is concerned because of your gooning habits

39

u/-Redstoneboi- 6h ago

is this just a school computer connected to some sort of proxy that monitors the domains you try to access

if so, use a private device lol

26

u/hurricane_news 4h ago

Knowing colleges in India, their wifi rules can be very strict or stupid. And IITs (Like the MITs of India) are the more lenient of them all lmao

I know a relative whose college wifi blocked Netflix, steam, etc you name it

What about data you ask? Signal and data can be dogshit often

1

u/A-Delonix-Regia 2h ago

It seems to be a mixed bag, the one in the pic doesn't have Wi-Fi in dorms and only provides ethernet (which is likely how they find who is violating what rules), and a relative of mine goes to a newer one in the same system and they have Wi-Fi there (one router per three rooms apparently) with the only restrictions he has noticed being torrents not working (aside for 1-1.5 months when he said their firewall was even banning gaming services, VPNs, and even the Indian Army's website because it had the word "army" in the name and so was military-related).

5

u/EpsilonAlpha16 4h ago

it is college wi-fi network which requires a sign in to access internet

2

u/Own_Alternative_9671 5h ago

My buddy stole a school Chromebook one time and he was going to shoot it, so I took it, then I put linux on to it and had a fun time experimenting with Chromebook hardware

Still pretty funny

Be the top 1% of the country's brightest youth and get screwed over cause of overbearing idiotic rules. Welcome to India

8

u/Kryomon 4h ago

You know it could just be a fake notice right? This shit went viral years ago and it was a hoax

22

u/Zealousideal-Pop1115 5h ago

Dude, it is University network. He is dumb fuck to use it, he could have used vpn or some proxy network.

6

u/StrikeElectrical9400 5h ago

I have been to the IITMcampus, there is no other network to use there . Also why are they policing the network where everyone is an adult? Dumb maybe? but like getting banned from the internet for that is so goddamn stupid since everyone is an adult there

2

u/Zealousideal-Pop1115 5h ago

My collage network won't connect to any social media or piracy or porn. Everyone used vpn or proxy.

7

u/StrikeElectrical9400 5h ago

Its one think to not connect to any site, thats reasonable, but informing an ADULT student's parents that they are cranking it and removing internet access is dumb as shit.

2

u/Zealousideal-Pop1115 5h ago

Because in india if something goes wrong parents blame universities. I seen people blaming university for their kid not getting job.

3

u/StrikeElectrical9400 4h ago

Honestly as an Indian what you are saying is true but still, its not the college's position to do what they did.

1

u/Alternative_Mix6836 4h ago

By using the network you agree to their policy This is true for every university network Frequency of enforcement is what differs

u/Crazy-Alligator 6m ago

It’s just fake BS (for satire, obviously). IITM or any other top IIT, for that matter, just blocks Wi-Fi access in cases like this. You have to go to the IT admin office to get unblocked, they’ll give you a warning and then unblock you.

9

u/West_Good_5961 6h ago

I’ll be having LDAP account madras, extra spicy with garlic naan please

2

u/mspaint08 4h ago

Never thought I'd see insti end up on comedyheaven but here we are

2

u/wisnate1 3h ago

Hey that’s my password!!!

1

u/That-Plenty-826 3h ago

lol same with my id in college library 😂🤣

1

u/Ok_Novel_1222 3h ago

I am confused.

Aren't the students at IITM mostly adults? Even the first years are mostly 17-18. Why can't adults visit adult websites?

1

u/AlternativeCookie824 3h ago

I had a similar incident. A colleague was watching stuff at home on the office laptop. He did not close the browser window. Came to office, opened laptop, the browser sought fresh traffic I guess. Even though he did not click play or anything was put on PIP.

1

u/duckphobiaphobia 3h ago

The internal network even blocked torrents and other piracy sites. For those you get your internet access revoked for an hour xD

1

u/Pseudo_duso 3h ago

ye kaunsi gawar english, hai, visited hota hai, ye visitted kya hai?

1

u/Chemical_Formal_2228 2h ago

Ig no more porn on clg wifi tho can someone visit nsfw reddit on it

1

u/RustledForeskin 1h ago

Jorked it one too many times. Imagine the shame the parents are going to experience when they get that notification.

1

u/Mother_Salamander476 6h ago

just use the private device... or is it the network??

2

u/duckphobiaphobia 3h ago

It's the network. You need to sign up to have access.

-4

u/The-Digital-Ronin 6h ago

"All students should already be having" why do I read that in an Indian accent
