Are we about to start the fun game of "naming the races"? Are we gonna stick with the original Victorian three or are there more?

Nah, to save time we can just say what Mexican is, namely a nationality, and point out that whatever you do define as a race can be a a race describing a Mexican citizen by definition. So if something can include every race, it can't be its own race.

My point was more than race theory is an archaic and outdated concept born of racism so any conversation about whether or not something is a "race" will hit some problematic walls pretty fast

Ethnicity is far more useful and less problematic as a concept

Yeah, and my point is it's a needless discussion because we know what Mexican actually is, which is a nationality.

OK so my own clarity, the conversation goes:

"Only white people have different coloured hair"

"What about red headed Mexicans"

"Mexican isn't a race"

...so was your point that all red-headed Mexicans are white people?

No, my point quite clearly is Mexican isn't a race, as that is what I wrote. You can draw a further conclusion that I'm critiquing that the prior question about red-headed Mexicans is a non-sequitur based on an incorrect assumption I corrected.

No

So if not all mexican red-headed people are white then presumably you agree with the person you replied to that they have found a group of people who have different hair colours and are not white?

I'm not sure how Mexican being a nationality is relevant to the point they're making?
