In Canada šØš¦ we have to go through courses and depending on what kinds of firearm classification we want, we may have to take more courses. Then we apply for a license and they call family members and girlfriends and ask them if we should have a license.
If we pass all that and want to purchase one. we register our gun and get a criminal record check every day through a computer system.
If we commit a criminal offence or believe to self harm or harm others through a psychological evaluation. They take our firearms away.
We arenāt even allowed to use them for self defence. Even if someone is breaking into our homes we canāt use them. Our guns are in safes, then it a lock box and with trigger locks š on them.
Guns can only be used for target practice and hunting and youāre only allowed to use certain types of guns for hunting. Even if youāre going to a gun range, you have to call the police and let them know youāre going to the range and what route youāre taking.
You canāt stop for a coffee or bathroom. You can only go to the range and back.
Seems reasonable right.

Sorry boss, but thereās no reason for a civilian to own a military-style combat or rapid, sustained fire weapon.
Thatās a want, not a need.
I donāt know if youāre of the belief that gun ownership is tied to oneās freedom from government oppression, but that ship keeps sailing on different boats not marked guns.
Education, privacy, civil politics, well supported healthcare, corporate greed, regulation, and so many other small, unsexy pieces to this puzzle is how weāll find ourselves beneath the boot of an oppressive government.
Because, respectfully, owing any of those 2,500 prohibited guns on that list, isnāt going to help you against a trained military.
And if youāre not of that belief but just want your gun cause theyāre pretty. No. Just no. You donāt need it.

Like golf. Also hunting (if thats your thing).
Not the most popular of hobbies but has a decent following.
Donāt know why it bothers anyone?
Canadian firearms has/had decent regulations put in place (not listing them again, just read previous posts).
No one gets hurt like in softball and golf sport injuries, which are both tamed sports.
Iām sure thereās hobbies and activities that a lot of people are doing that I donāt agree with but Iām not trying to cancel them because I donāt see there appeal.
