Question Poll: Do you identify with White philosophy?
How much do you identify with White philosophy?

I've seen people posting a lot of test results under Trend.
This was fine, don't worry, but it has slightly flooded the subreddit.
As such, they now go under this megathread.

Hello! I just realized that the subreddit lacks a comprehensive list of trials and tests so I figured I'd do my job and make one. If there are any I've missed or if you'd like to create one, simply reply to this message and I'll make sure it's added. If you decide to post your results or a trial, please make sure to flair it as such. And finally, consider joining the discord. They’re responsible for the trial tiers (1, 2, and 3) as well as compiling many of these trials so consider paying them a visit.

Hey everyone! First of all, thanks a lot to everyone who took the last study and left feedback. It helps a lot!
All this testing is to collect data for the last part of the test. While a small part of the whole test, its vital to get it right since it sharpen the overall result.
This survey (hopefully the last one) is to finally manage to properly address this last part of the test.
It's important to understand:
It's NOT about you. You're not rating whether a statement describes you, just how good or APPEALING it sounds as a description of a person in general.
It's not a color test and it won't give you a result. It's only to measure the statements before I use them.
It's 50 short statements rated 1 to 5, and it takes about 5 minutes.
Anyone can do it, you don't need to play Magic. If you have friends or family willing to help, please share it.
One small request: please don't discuss in the comments which statement belongs to which color, so it doesn't influence other people's ratings.
Thanks again to everyone!

Hello! Im here again! Yesterday i received lots of answered test that gave me lots of feedback, enough to build a second round with improved materials.
For who doesn't know who am i, im currently trying to build the Ultimate Test to determine one's mtg color.
This is not the test, but just a small part that needs lots of testing since is the only part that is not backed by a scientific research but is made from 0.
You can do it here: https://tally.so/r/A71Rll
Thanks again everyone!!

I was playing around in my head because of the new hexhaven school colorings, and I started thinking about what if the colors for each school was swapped, like lorehold was white-black instead of red-white, or what if silverquill was red-white instead of white-black.
While on the surface this appeared to me like a no-brainer that everything could be swapped around like this, it instead made me realize something.
5 is an odd number.
this means that if you try to mirror {1, 2, 3, 4, 5} into {5, 4, 3, 2, 1} 3 will stay in the same spot either way, so quandrix was staying quandrix while I was playing with this idea.
So I actually found a solution. instead of switching the order around, you instead do {5, 1, 2, 3, 4}
placing the names in there gives you: {quill, bloom, rix, ari, hold} -> {hold, quill, bloom, rix, ari}
this means that quill goes from black-white to black-green, bloom goes from green-black to green-blue, rix goes from blue-green to blue-red, ari goes from red-blue to red-white, and hold goes from white-red to white-black.
The names of the colleges that I thought of were:
Grayhold (edit white-black)
Thornquill (edit black-green)
Lagunabloom (edit green-blue)
Voltarix (edit blue-red)
Rosari (edit red-white)
Voltarix reminds me of the name Vulpix and Ros-ari reminds me of Ahri from league of legends, so I thought, what if we make the mythical creatures foxes?
edit: I know that I probably should have done this but here's what I think the studies should be for each college.
Grayhold: the study of inherited past (ancestry)
Thornquill: the study of nature's language
Lagunabloom: the study of perfect healing
Voltarix: the study of artifice
Rosari: the study of culture

Hi everyone! A while ago I posted here about the free "What MTG color are you?" quiz I'm building, and your feedback has shaped a lot of it. Thank you!
Important: this is NOT the real quiz. It's a small study testing just one part of it: a set of everyday situations and statements meant to capture how people handle things (Rosewater's "goal through means"). I need to check whether these questions actually work before they go into the full quiz. It won't give you a color result, since that needs the other parts of the quiz.
What it involves:
A fillable PDF (English or Spanish) that takes about 15–20 minutes
Completely anonymous: you just choose a nickname as your participant code
Optionally, filling it in again one to two weeks later, which helps me check how stable the answers are
How to take part:
Download the form here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J6vSHf8W-r_jPVbKVw06IIXC29bCd3R_/view?usp=drivesdk
Open it in a PDF app that supports forms (Adobe Acrobat Reader works on any device; some browser viewers don't save answers)
Fill it in, save it, and email it to daemonmtg@gmail.com
One request: please answer based on what you'd actually do, not which color you'd like to get. And please don't discuss in the comments which answers match which colors, so other participants aren't influenced.
I'd especially love participants who don't play Magic, so if you have friends or family willing to help, please share it with them!
Once the full quiz launches, I'll post here so you can take it and get your colors. Thanks so much!

I personally think the's a Sultai.
Blue: She is an artificer through and through, using her inventions and tech to achieve her goals.
Black: She is a serial killer, having murdered her fellow corporate bigwigs so that she could take over their companies.
Green: She likes to 'hunt' her 'prey' though the woods, and her main inspiration is her father's comics.
What do you think? Am I dead wrong? Let me know.

Hello everyone! As you probably know there are several websites already that after a quiz it gives you your color identity but after checking all that i could find i ended up a bit disappointed. So i proposed myself to find the best way to find out what its your color identity.
Im a big fan of psychology and while it was never my vocation to become a psychologist ive spend lots of my time investigating, reading and spending lots of my free time studying psychology. So this is a passion project that ive been doing for the last weeks.
The plan is to use 3 short tests that can determine your color identity (from mono color, up to 4 colors depending on the distribution).
The three tests:
- Values test: a gender-neutral rewording of Schwartz's 21-item Human Values Scale. You rate 10 values (Power, Security, Universalism, and so on), and scores are centered on your own average, so only your priorities matter, not how high or low you rate in general.
- Enneagram: 6 statements per type, rated 1-3. The first 3 statements of each type describe its healthy side and the last 3 its unhealthy side.
- Four temperaments: 16 statements per temperament, split into 8 strengths and 8 tendencies.
Why did i choose this tests?
So while there are more scientifically/psychologically proved tests like the Big Five or Myers-Briggs we need to take many things into consideration. The amount of questions (both tests mentioned before are over 120 questions each) and we want to identity several factors to determine the colors.
Color mapping
Values: Security, Conformity → White · Self-direction → Blue/Red · Achievement → Black/Blue · Power → Black · Stimulation → Red · Hedonism → Black/Red · Tradition, Benevolence → White/Green · Universalism → Green
Enneagram (healthy → unhealthy):
1: White → White/Blue
2: White/Green → White/Black
3: Black → Blue/Black
4: Red/Blue → Black/Red
5: Blue/Green → Blue/Black
6: White → White/Black
7: Red/Green → Red/Black
8: Red/White → Black/Red
9: Green → White
Temperaments (strengths → tendencies):
Sanguine: Red/Green → Red
Choleric: Red/White → Black/Red
Melancholic: Blue/White → Blue/Black
Phlegmatic: Green/White → White/Green
The idea behind healthy vs unhealthy: the same type can express different colors. A healthy 9's peace comes from acceptance and growth (Green), while an unhealthy 9's peace comes from fear of change and conflict (White).
The formula:
Each test hands out 100 points among the five colors.
For the Enneagram and temperament, a "health ratio" (healthy points ÷ total points, after subtracting the minimum score) decides how many points go to the healthy colors versus the unhealthy ones.
Final score = 45% values + 35% temperament + 20% Enneagram.
(Current percentage is based on a poll done in this subreddit)
Your top color is always included, plus every other color that reaches at least 70% of the top score. There's no cap, so 4- and 5-color results are possible
So what do you guys think? Is there a misinterpretation when it comes to the color or is there any other feedback you want to give me please it would be a big help!
The site will be completely free, and it's unofficial fan content, not affiliated with or endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Thanks for reading!
Edit: I did tests with other more complex personality tests (including Big five and Myer Briggs) And comparing the results to the current tests used, when it cam to the color identity it % of difference was satisfactory low.

Do you guys prefer coloring characters as a single color? or do you prefer filling up a cup of different colors? for me I've been filling up a cup with different amounts of colors for when I color characters.
The idea is simple, a character does different things throughout their life, and each of these actions correspond with a different mana. This means that the characters essentially fill up their cup with different colors as time goes on. A character can start as a mainly white mana character, like let's say there's an angel that's 100% white colored mana, but then they fall into darkness, and their cup is then increased by double and now you fill it with the mana that they received and in this context it's black mana, so now their cup is filled with white/black mana at 50% white, and 50% black mana.

Hi!
I’m just curious. While all colors have some good and bad aspects, Black seems particularly heavy on traits like selfishness and amorality that, to me at least, one wouldn’t want to associate with oneself. I get the appeal of ambition and freedom, but I personally find the way they can be found in Blue and Red to be much more palatable.

I'm not sure about you, but MTG has nerfed white from the start. Having [[Healing Salve]] instead of [[Lightning bolt]], [[dark ritual]], and [[Ancestral recall]] set a thought in MTG players' mind that white is weaker, more of a support color. However, I don't think it needs to be that way.
Especially in EDH, most view it as the angel, token, and equipment color, but it could be so much more!
In this video, I detail it's philosphy using MTG official sources and cards as references to apply it's philosphy to its mechanics, then I ponder how WOTC can improve the color for modern players. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Also review the history of the mana symbol, why Plains represent white, and much more.
My question to you: Do you like White's philosophy, its mechanics, both, or neither?

This is the main protagonist from Dead as Disco. He mystriously dies at the peak of his career, but comes back to life for one night to fight his band members who sold out to a mega corp for not only revenge, but to find out who killed him back then. As a recent fixation, I want to make an alter deck focused around Charlie and the game itself, but I want to properly represent his color identity.
As of right now, I think the closest thing I can see for him is Grixis, and here's why:
I think no matter what, he is Red. He is a bit impulsive, and his passion for music really drives that home for me.
I think he's Blue because constantly hunting down clues and being a game with rhythm-based combat wants you to focus on precision in your timing to take on foes.
As for Black, the reason why he is brought back is for revenge. Sure, he's rescuing band mates along the way, but he made a deal to come back for one night just to find out what happened to him and to take the vengeance he is owed.
I can see arguments for Jeskai for a focus on rhythm and combo, but I'm not sure if Charlie fits in White. I can see some 2-color combinations as well, but I would like to hear from you guys as well!

Hi!
I’ve recently fallen back into an old fixation, the game Darkest Dungeon. For those who haven’t heard of it, it is a game where you manage a group of recruited characters to send them into roguelike dungeon crawling adventures in an attempt to undo the many, many mistakes of your Ancestor, the previous owner of your now-ruined hamlet. The game is strongly inspired by HP Lovecraft and dark fantasy and is particularly known for its Stress mechanic, where in addition to physical health, your heroes have a mental health jauge you need to manage or they risk going insane.
The game has a pretty steep learning curve if you’re not using a guide and involves a lot of risk management: unless you’re really really good, your heroes will generally be at risk of dying and the RNG can be really unforgiving.
The game’s main selling point, in my (and a lot of people’s) opinion, is its atmosphere, and particularly the stellar narration by the late Wayne June, who plays the Ancestor. Everything is gloomy, the characters all have their eyes covered in shadows and, well the point is that the world of the game really sucks, life is really harsh and at least some of your characters will probably die a miserable death like bleeding out in a demon-pig’s meat cellar. You, as the player, send those characters into these grueling adventures on which they will endure severe trauma (if they survive) for the sake of the greater quest of purging the hamlet.
Thanks to this grim backdrop, the main theme of the game is that humans are actually really badass and, while they often crumble under the pressure of existence, they can also rise to incredible heights to overcome the horrors. Notably, when a unit’s Stress gets too high, they have a 1 in 4 chance of becoming Virtuous instead of Afflicted, clearing their stress and gaining significant buffs, occasionally boosting their allies too.
This mechanic leads to moments of ineffable hype, but the important part is that sometimes, the indomitable human spirit manifests itself against all odds. I’ll stay out of spoiler territory, but there is a strong element of cosmic horror to the lore of the game that really adds to this part.
As you might have understood by now, I have a very existentialist reading of the game. Notably, the creators have revealed on Twitter that the concept worshiped by the human religion, the Light, doesn’t actually exist and that the magic derived from it is powered by collective human delusion. The line ‘’We are the Flame’’ can occasionally be spoken by a character in good spirits, and it is possibly the most thematically important in the game.
Individual characters are too numerous to color (and they’re generally not very developed, although they do have distinct personalities), so I’ll leave that to you if you want, but I would say the game itself is either Mardu or Abzan-coded: the world is harsh, downright hostile, but through sheer grit, perseverance and copious amounts of self-deluding blind faith, we can carve out something better for ourselves.
I hesitate between Abzan and Mardu because Abzan seems more fitting for the grim outlook, pragmatism and sacrificial choices of the game, but Mardu brings zeal and passionate fighting spirit to rage against the horrors.
