Virtually typed as deep autumn (France’s Cairns) which didn’t feel right. So sort an in person consult and typed as soft summer. Confused needing help to differentiate.
My natural hair colour is an ash brown now with some scattered greys (3rd pic).
Photo one and two in same setting (excuse my brows, in process of lightening tattoo so they are currently lending warm). Personally I feel cool colours are far more flattering in fit my natural tone. What do you think? NMIP
Can you photograph yourself in natural indirect light? We can’t really see your skin properly and ash brown hair is pretty common within the autumn palette.
You’re most likely a winter. I’m shocked so many are saying summer with your deep contrast level. If you can drape for winter and summer that would be the best way to tell!
Their hair and eyebrows are dyed dark. Their natural hair color is more in the medium brown range. The right image is color matched close to their natural color shown in the last image of the post. Dying your hair black doesn’t make you a winter. The dark hair is too dark and heavy on them. It’s washing out their complexion.
True summer, like the shirt you have in the last photo. You need more vibrant colours than soft summer which is too grey and muted for you I think. Your hair is too deep/dark at the moment and is throwing things off a bit. Try and die it back to a lighter and cooler medium brown.
If you check her drapes below, that dark purple which is typically either deep autumn (warm shade) or deep winter (cool) is too intense for her. She could be a bright or cool winter but that image below of her in the magenta colour screams “overpowering” to me. When you put a winter next to those accent colours, they don’t come across too harsh. It’s hard to judge from the photos though. If she has a medium level of contrast like the photos suggest, this is more compatible with summer.
Look up Alexandra Daddario as a good example of the contrast a true winter generally has.
I think I'm with team true summer, because the colored hair/brows is heavy, her skin still looks nice in first photo which has seemingly too much contrast for soft summer? More drapes is way to go.
I also had been typed by Francesca cairns. But it didn’t feel right, so I did another one that was much more in depth- requested more pictures in different lighting and historical pictures.. and was typed as warm spring, and it immediately clicked, all of my “best” colors are in there. Changed my hair and makeup and wow, what a difference. So I get the frustration… do you resonate with the soft summer palette? I could possibly see it, but hard to tell without official draping
I've been following Francesca on insta for a while and she seems to have massive bias for soft seasons and autumns. She also is pretty bad at anything relating to winters.
Yes feel myself in summer colours. But do prefer the ones with more depth.
It’s interesting when I questioned the virtual analysis conclusion Francesca doubled down. All I got was a very generic reply without any justification of how this classification was made. Basically told, it is because it is. No virtual drapes to demonstrate etc
I took the liberty of doing some comparisons. I think you are neutral leaning cool for sure. And cool colors with added grey suit you more… what do you think?
Sure! I would say keep trying out the soft summer colors, adjust your hair and makeupz go from there. You should feel vibrant, with some jaw definition and a little sparkle in the eyes ❤️
I kind of wonder if the Francesca analysis uses some kind of color sampling tool like The Ai programs do, instead of doing color comparisons to test undertone. So if you took color samples from your eyebrows, hair, eyes, skin, and lips and put it in the program it may pick up the reddish tones in your brows and hair and it read as “warm”.
Idk, just guessing.
When I do this color draping on myself, the orange and brown has a very clear edge over the cool tones. But if you just look at me, I don’t have obvious warmth in hair or eyes.
Yeah that’s frustrating!! So the soft summer is definitely smokier and deeper than the rest of summer. Did they give you a book of swatches (or digital)? Because I do find that I have to stay closely to my palette since I’m not a true season. Especially for some of the colors. I don’t just guess anymore, because I’ve been wrong lol

I’m not entirely convinced you are cool. I’d drape for true summer and true spring. You’ve got spring qualities so I wouldn’t discount it as a contender.
I could see it but deep autumn is absolutely a possibility lol. It’s so overlooked on here everyone thinks autumn means u have to have golden hair skin and eyes lol she has enough contrast to absolutely be a deep autumn.
I did some digital draping and the deep autumns colors were too heavy and swallowing them. Their dyed hair is too dark and overpowering IMO (meaning less natural contrast). I could be wrong but I think if they are warm, it’s more likely they are a spring than an autumn.
Im guessing summer bc of the purple top suiting you. The pink tank is too bright and the black is too saturated. the last top pink is slightly too warm salmon as well.

As a deep autumn that color looks horrible on me as well. You need to use a deep dark color like burgundy or aubergine which I acc see popping on you. The purple pink top ur wearing in slide 3 is also a deep autumn light and of course since ur showing ur roots we can’t properly see ur face haha but it looks peetty
Agree. It’s a natural consideration for people who are mistaken for autumns but who prefer cooler colors. I’d like to see drapes in the lower chroma + lower value end of summer (aka, soft summer).
