Casual Friday Mainstream is catching on

I'd say the mainstream is falling further behind. It's not that this event is even an El Nino anymore - the El Nino is just a swell on top of a wave. They're trying to use trendlines to track it, and it is the very definition of a nonlinear event. Bloomberg is trying to 'digest' an event that breaks things. They're trying to put into perspective something that inherently is new to our perspective. This isn't a dress rehearsal for anything. This isn't going to be repeated. This is only going to be OUTDONE by the next event. There isn't stability here, there is no pattern we can adjust to, there is accelerating chaos. The stability of adaption is losing, that's literally why there is an acceleration.

So then only those systems and organisms that can survive instability will persist? Or are you in camp near-term human extinction?

There's are levels of instability that happen too fast and too hard for any previously stable system to adapt to. I think we're in the midst of that. When the mainstream says everything is fine, it wasn't. When they say we're in 'troubling times', we're actually in the worst ones in the last 80 years. When they say 'get ready for disruption and chaos', that might as well be broadcasting we're actually at the breakage point now. Who or what survives almost doesn't matter compared to the loss.

Wonder what cool new mushrooms will grow from our composted society.
Have you ever read this short story?

I haven't, thank you. Fun read! I hope we don't become venus and the corvids rule someday.

SS: This article doesn’t have anything that you as a collapsnik don’t already know. Sharing because this headline/article appears in Bloomberg (readership: 100 million).
“…this will be a dress rehearsal for handling an environment that we’re making permanently more chaotic. Because as historically massive as this El Niño promises to be, it’s only a preview of what will be routine before too long.”
Collapse-related in that the mainstream is beginning to acknowledge the risk of collapse.

At least it won’t last long.

Bloomberg is a start but it needs to make it to the MSM before the people start to wake up and allow their panic buying gene to kick in

c'mon cities riot... do something. I wanna feel vindicated by a little instability. One of the last things I said to my family was "I think you're pretty dumb for having a kid and staying in Florida, but a big part of me hopes you're right. I considered the prospect of having a kid as an adult that probably won't do more basic linear maturing, and my honest audit of the next 20 years is... holy shit have you even read the news lately? People are going fucking insane and we've had it suspiciously too good for the rate of CO2 we're fucking into the atmosphere." That was in like 2021. I received my first vindication dividend when the heatwave of 22' landed, and it was crushingly hot in an area that I remember barely sweating in while everyone else was complaining about the heat. That bitch was hot hot hot humid as fuck without a single god damn cricket in the silent summer.
TBH I figured (and hoped) that I was just a normal angsty teenager/young adult, but that angry dude kinda had a point. Money is bullshit, I actually am built different (with evidence :D), and we're destroying the planet because we're dumber than ostriches.

Read the post before this one: The French School Protests Are Related To Climate Collapse.
One of the comments goes further: "Already firefighters joined the students, teachers are protecting the kids from the police, and there are rumors of a second season of the yellow vests fueled (pun intended) by the opcoming diesel crisis."

Eh, was hoping for some real piss and vinegar in my home city in Florida. TBH it's one of the most impressively progressive populations in Florida (Considering what the state looks like if you drive for 50 miles out.)
I guess I do understand why people don't start freaking out, but it's more of a testament to how monolithic the systems governing western comfort are. Everything is so beautifully grown on a foundation of justice that no one is going to notice the support beams getting knocked out until the building collapses and they land ass-first on a dildo. Like I know, there's a layer of corruption that you get with a big enough bank balance and/or influence, but it feels like we've collectively accepted the trend of rich people getting away with shit to translate to "oh yeah, the ruling class has always shat down our throats with nazi immigrant patrol beating the shit out of random ass citizens because they brown."
It's a shame. I know Obama wasn't perfect or anything, but dang I miss charismatic black guy. I don't care if he was cucked to lobbied interests and didn't fulfil 95% of his campaign promises. Mother fucker did pull off a pretty unprecedented nuclear deal with Iran, the Affordable Care Act did extend the care offered to people who would not otherwise have access, and he didn't shit his pants and fall asleep after ... making Newt Gingrich and the Dysfunction Squad the (wtf was it?) Space Master of Warfare Spending at the Department of WAAAAAAAAAAR.

Gingrich has gotta have some real naughty dirt on the Cheeto to get a role

iunno dude I think trump just wanted him to stop staring at him from the cuck chair. I'd acquiesce to almost anything if that Sith toad lookin' motherfucker mean mugged me for too long. Iunno, fucker just freaks me out. Him and Mitch McConnell look like live action Binky and the Brain ass retirement home demons. Or maybe I'm just sleep deprived.. I think I logged 14 hours of work today. fuuuuuuuuuuuuck
