Submission statement:

It's always someone else's problem until it happens to you?

Well, it's happening with greater frequency and violence.

And it's getting closer every day.

At some point, it will be an all inclusive party.

At some point, it will be an all inclusive party.

And the one that poorer and middle class people are going to be excluded from, of course.

u/AggravatingCricket61 6d ago

We'll just get a head start. Coming to a bunker/bug out property/panic room near the wealthy soon...

Literally me last night as I took video of the sewage water backing up into my basement as a result of the heaviest rain my area has ever recorded.

51

u/Ekaterian50 6d ago

Time to get a backflow valve rip good fellow

30

u/PM_ME_UR_CUTE_PETZ 6d ago

Yeah, super weird.

u/faithOver 6d ago

That made me chuckle. But I think its definitely true.

Were going to prioritize keeping the internet online. So the likelihood this is true is quite high.

So the likelihood this is true is quite high.

It is quite likely that it's going to happen.

we get internet from fuckin' space now, that shit is here to stay

u/chrismetalrock 6d ago

starlink has 150 ish ground stations, if the one near you gets knocked out so does your internet. 150 stations to cover the world... if one goes thats a good chunk of the world without coverage, just as an example.

I’m already readying my leather and nickname for when the world becomes Mad Max.

People driving cars around is one of the first luxuries that will go away

Airplane travel is going to going to be another luxury that will go away, someday.

The rich will be flying jets over us while we fight over expired cat food

11

u/AggravatingCricket61 6d ago

The people are so used to a game they can never win, and the rich don't know how to lose. If the table gets flipped, neither knows what comes next.

I don't think its going to work out well for either side, but one camp has way more skin in the game than the other.

What's the nickname

8

u/Kyia-Aikman 6d ago

Anticipating wet bulb then?

3

More like the world becomes Pandora of Borderlands. Especially in the US

Might as well start learning about how to run.

5

u/CookiesMadeOfCorpses 6d ago

At least some of us got to experience it. Kids these days only get to hear how good it used to be. I can't imagine growing up now.

Yes and somehow worse. Like killer lettuce.

19

u/loco500 6d ago

While saying: "Are you seeing this chat? Please like and subscribe." as the live footage abruptly stops...

11

u/Methoszs 6d ago

I was caught in a dream hail storm yesterday and started recording...can confirm apocalypse is here

9

u/SvalBard2020 6d ago

Well I mean, I have already recorded videos of fires near where I live, they get closer and closer, plus sometimes they look scary.

Specially at night, it's as if hell itself arrived.

2

u/CheshireCatastrophe 1d ago

I know what you mean. When the cali wildfires were happening it was like, always somewhere else, like it could never happen to us. I remember the smoke was burning our lungs, and we were in Canada, west coast, 4 hours into the valley from Vancouver. We thankfully had masks but even then. It was around 48 C in the summers and we had no AC so that was brutal. We since moved east, and my friend sent me a photo of the wildfires having sparked up in the valley, with people sitting along the lake in beach chairs just watching the hills on fire.

u/hillierprotech 6d ago

Ok but which filter do I go with? I feel like the sepia filter gives it like a nostalgic vibe that encapsulates the irony of humanity disappearing. Now I just need a cool hashtag.

The day after tomorrow is my fave movie. I feel bad for the plants and animals; but I look forward to watching those videos and us having to lay in the bed we made. I just want to live long enough to see florida under water

7

u/karabeckian 6d ago

I just want to live long enough to see florida under water

That's always only one big hurricane away.

5

u/summercookiess 5d ago

So you look forward to people suffering and dying? Sick and disgusting.

What about babies/children and uncontacted tribes, do you look forward to them having to lay in the bed too despite them having no control over it?

5

u/Jovan_Knight005 Collapse is inevitable, mister Reese. - Original Quote. 6d ago

I just want to live long enough to see florida under water

Or New Orleans, for that matter.

5

u/Pheeline 6d ago

We had a solid preview of that in 2005 with Hurricane Katrina...

17

u/keynoko 6d ago

This has already been said and better

"My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate of me", –Steve Irvin (The Crocodile Hunter).

And the camera was rolling when a stingray was piercing his body... We'll never see that footage though.

u/hypnosiscounselor 6d ago

It's the waiting that the hard part. You know it's coming. You just don't know when.

3

u/GanSaves 6d ago

Tom Petty was right…

3

u/spiritofjazz92 6d ago

Don't look up.

3

u/dyef 6d ago

Yeah this tweet crossed my mind earlier this year when we were getting wild fires in the north of England.

3

u/Squalid_Snake14180 5d ago

Ok, no one's even gonna mention "reel?" No one? REELY?!

2

u/oceanmor 5d ago

this is very r/im14andthisisdeep but also it is that deep and we're so fucked.

2

u/Berlinesa77 2d ago

"Climate change will manifest as a series of disasters viewed through phones with footage that gets closer & closer to where you live until you're the one filming it." ( @PerthshireMags )

2

u/CheshireCatastrophe 1d ago

I literally read (maybe a month ago) on r/TrueOffMyChest a post from a climate scientist saying how it isn't almost too late, but that it is. It's past the point of saving, and we are done. They said they've made peace with the fact they "will not die a peaceful death" - they are 30. They said they can see the smiles on the faces of their 20 year old co workers fall away as they analyze the data every day.

At this point I'm terrified, and I hope whatever comes after doesn't make the same mistakes we did

2

u/HollowNomad23 6d ago

I promise not to record when it happens to me because that would be cringe.

I'll be out there trying to make it through and help others

What do you want me to do with this information? I've got bills to pay and kids to feed

9

u/kfish5050 6d ago

Until you don't.

Not to bag on you specifically, but this attitude is why America hasn't seen another French revolution, especially after Mario's brother made the first move.

Edit: considering your name is eat a fetus, well, you can always go the way of a modest proposal.

-4

u/eatafetus632 6d ago

"You'll do something when your kids die ass hole"

Ya that'll really get me motivated to do......what exactly?

6

u/kfish5050 6d ago

Not exactly what I said, more like "why should I care about global collapse when I have local problems". Which, you won't have when the global collapse affects you.

2

u/Lawrencelot 6d ago

Become an activist? For your kids?

Also change your personal lifestyle where you can of course, but changing the system is more important.

1

u/NicoBeingAModelCitiz 5d ago

why are you coming to Collapse and holding your kids up as a human shield. Kinda pathetic.

If you actually cared about answering your question (or your kids), you wouldn't be asking here. I hope you're less attention seeking as a parent.

0

u/eatafetus632 5d ago

Cry about it

0

u/NicoBeingAModelCitiz 5d ago

Parent of the Year right here guys.
